Detail Focus: What does Lux find when she wakes up? | [KS] Dignified (mystical)

Atara has taken her to a temple of sorts.

An ache throughout her body greets Lux as she groggily returns to consciousness. She finds herself lying on a bed of some sort; she opens one eye before closing it again with a groan as the light of a candle stings her vision.

“Awake, are we? At last.” Atara’s voice. Lux blinks her eyes open and begins to sit up, before the memories of what was happening as she lost consciousness hit her like a stampede of oxen. She sits bolt upright, clutching her arms over her chest –

“Easy, girl,” Atara says, moving into view. Lux sees that Atara has no collar and, feeling at her own neck, she finds that hers is gone too. She can feel the presence of her magic, as strong as ever. Looking down, she confirms that she is also no longer naked, although the tunic she’s wearing – resembling Atara’s – is a little snug in certain obvious places.

“Where are those two,” Lux mumbles. “I’m gonna – ”

“They’ll not bother us again,” Atara says. “A dose of gas knocked them out well enough – and you, I suppose, but there’s no lasting harm. Now they’re locked up to await the Great Machine’s judgement, and I warrant it will not be so lenient a second time.”
