A sweet household

I say hello to the rest of the group when i head downstairs. Not everyone got a home this early, but i was taken in early by a nice human couple. Barbara and Keith are like the nicest people, immedietly feeling sympathetic for the so called monsters and seeing us as friends. They found me in an alley looking for food, offered me a place to stay at no cost whatsoever!

"Hey BK, did you sleep well?"
I ask Barbara and Keith, who are very busy preparing breakfast for the group. Usually they have time to spread this out, but today most of my brothers and sisters go to school for the first time, just like me! We are all wearing our own types of uniforms, all being excited in our own way to explore the outside world. We live in quite a small village, so we have to drive an hour in the bus to get to school, but this meant we never had a chance to explore the city.

Keith answers: "Good morning Elise, thank you. We slept well but please take a seat and talk to your brothers and sisters, i have no time right noOOOW... oof. Almost dropped it."
He mumbles that last part to himself, clearly being very distracted at the moment.

I shrug it off and sit down next to Stephanie, the lioness of the group. She is not like the rest of us, she was a cat, one of the few that transformed. She grew untill she hit the 7' mark and has what humans would call a furry body. We didnt like eachother at first, we were very biased against eachother as dog and cat, but she quickly understood this place, claiming it almost as her own and being happy to finally teach the dogs their place by motherly explaining how things work. She still respects BK, but she is like the only sister that actually is allowed outside without telling BK, and sometimes she takes me with her! At first she just wanted to show her capabilities as a cat, but soon we became friends as she realised we are equals now and we had a lot of fun expeditions. Eating pizza, going for walks, swimming in the river... today will be tough for her though. She is afraid not everyone will look up to her anymore.

"Dont worry Steph, you are still the strongest in my heart, even if we meet some scary orcs."
I say as i lean against her shoulder.

"Oh hey, El," She answers. "Thank you, but you dont have to worry. I think i will be okay, its just something new. It has been 5 years since we became... this and i just need to realise i wont transform back. I will still be your lioness, puppy."

I snuggle into her arm with a smile, words wont cut it here, showing affection will. I just closed my eyes as suddenly i hear some loud honking. Barbara looks at her watch and yells at Keith: "Keith, the bus has come earlier, help me pack their breakfast so they can eat while driving. I told you we should have woken them up at 6!" She gathers us all making sure nobody is missing, Keith stuffing paperbags with sandeiches in our backpacks, and pushing us out of the door.

I comply to the best of my ability, waving at my new parents as we walk into the bus. This is the start of a new adventure, a new school, a new city, a new society, and i am ready to explore it all.
