How’s Angie?
Better as the Sun Sets
You knock on the front door. You wait, making small talk with a nauseous looking Di. You check and Angie’s car is in the driveway. You ring the bell again and begin to worry.
Just as you are getting ready to call the police the door creaks open. Standing there is a disheveled Angie.
She looks terrible. Her face shows wrinkles that make her look a decade older than she is. Her hair is a mess and she is still wearing the the dress from the party.
“Nice to see you, girls.” She rasps. “Come in.”
Di and you step inside.
“You ok, Angie, you look like Hell.”
“Feel like crap. I don’t even remember most of the party.”
“Can we get you some food or something?”
You notice the sun begin to drop below the horizon. For some reason it excites you.
Angie manages a smile. It seems to make the lines disappear and she is back to looking younger.
“I’m fine. In fact I’m feeling much better. Let me just go into the bedroom and change out of this dress.”
Angie retreats to the bedroom and you watch the last rays of the sun. You feel energized. You smile at Di and she grins back, clearly feeling it as well.
As you are about to say something to Di, Angie’s bedroom door creaks open.
