Sam picks me up for work

I woke up naked and ready for my first day of working at Sam’s store. I quickly put on another one of the flannels and jeans, checking in the mirror that my body was properly hidden. I quickly went downstairs to see my mom had indeed made me a breakfast of champions as her way of wishing me luck. “Mom, you didn’t have to go to this extent for me. I still feel a bit bad that you think I don’t want to work at the church anymore,” I told her in between bites of eggs and bacon.

My mom sat down next to me and said, “I talked to your dad about this after you went upstairs. If anything I should apologize and realize you are becoming your own woman. I should be ready for the changes and stop thinking you’re that high school girl I was taking to school a few months ago.”

I cleaned my plate clean and got a text from Sam:

Hey babe!

I’m outside and ready whenever you are. I’m excited for our first official day of working together. Please remember your ‘uniform’ as well.

I was a bit confused by what she meant by uniform and texted her back:

Hey babe!

I’ll be out in a few. Did you want any breakfast and did you give me a uniform with all the clothes you brought over?

She instantly replied:

No food for me and I’ll give you your uniform in the car then. I’ll be here waiting so no rush!

I was both concerned and excited for the ‘uniform’ as my mom asked, “Do you need a ride to work? I would be happy to take you there.”

I took my plate to the sink and dropped it in the soapy water with the few other dishes. “Sam is actually here to take us together so I’ll be heading out now!” I gave her a kiss and hug as I was heading out the door.

“Did Sam want anything?” She asked as I was heading out.

“She’s all good, mom! Love you!” I told her as I closed the door. I hurried down the steps and saw her car. I hurried to the passenger side as my mom was at the doorway. We both gave her a reassuring wave as Sam slowly pulled away. I watched her silhouette disappear and Sam smiled and said, “Let’s get you into your uniform, Jaime.”
