I Have Questions

"I think you're really going to need to tell me what the plan is here," I manage to squeak out, as Rachel drags me by the hand as quickly as she can.

She has been dragging me since we left the group, so far and so fast that the city has been passing by in a blur. And while I'm sure she knows where she's going, I don't have the first clue. It's been up one street and down the other and quick turns and doubling back. It's been dashing this way and that while I string along behind her, dragged by my wrist as she leads me as fast as she can towards an unnamed destination.

And I've asked, asked for answers and asked for clarifications.

And she has given me nothing, even now.

Even now and even though she's looking forward I can tell that she's rolling her eyes, and the little half-snort of derision doesn't make things any better on my end.

"We don't have long," she says, glancing back and forth across a street to make sure the way is clear before she drags me forward heedlessly and dashes down the sidewalk towards a nearby alley that we cut through, "Just our lunch break and it isn't close. If we want to get there and back in time we can't waste any time."

"Where though?" I ask, half-demanding, "Where are we going?"

Finally she stops, but only because she hooks a thumb over to the left. And finally I see that we weren't cutting through this alley, we were heading into it.

To the left is a tall shop, three full stories. I can't see inside to see what it contains though, the windows aren't blacked out but they're either plastered over with posters or have window displays with full backs that don't let you see inside.

Still I don't need to see to know what we're here for and to know what they're selling.

"That's a sex shop," I say, my voice seeming so far away.

"Yeah," she confirms, "Where the fuck else would we go to buy you toys?"
