What do the outcasts do?
They threaten to torture Lux if Atara doesn’t cooperate
Failure Move: [2] Put Someone in a Spot
Craning frantically to her left and right, she can see a little of the two men who have hold of her. The one on her right is tall and pale, clean-shaven; the one on the left is shorter, stockier, bald-headed and stubbled. Each has the same remnant of a tattoo on his forehead that she saw on the bearded man.
“Little bitch, how did you get in here?” the bald one demands. “What did you do to Olan?”
“He’s not dead,” Lux says.
“He better not be,” the tall man says.
“Well, old woman,” the bald man says, “seeing as you don’t seem afraid of us hurting you – maybe you’ll feel differently about your friend here. Start talking.”
Lux’s eyes go wide. Part of her wants to beg Atara to tell them everything – if she does, though, they’re likely both as good as dead. But what happens if – ?
“I don’t even know her, Avin,” Atara says. “This is a waste of time.”
“I’ll break her neck right here!” the bald man – Avin – yells. Lux whimpers as she feels him tighten his grip, as if he’s about to do just that…
Atara sets her jaw stubbornly and says nothing.
“Fine,” the tall man – the one who must be Radan – says. “I can see we’ll need to make this last a bit longer.”
The pressure on Lux’s neck eases slightly, before Avin says, “Right. We’ll leave you to imagine what’s happening to her in there.”
They drag Lux over towards the doorway. She protests and struggles, but to no avail; they lift her through and throw her down on the floor. She hears the door slam closed.
