The Sins of Ravencrest Manor
a strange house with a dark past
Chapter 1
by bob10
It was a warm evening when Emily, her daughter Lily, and her son Tim arrived at Ravencrest Manor, the old house Emily had just purchased. Emily, a successful businesswoman, had always been drawn to the idea of living in an old, historic home, and this one seemed to have a certain allure that she couldn't resist. As the family entered the ancient manor, they were immediately struck by its strange, almost eerie atmosphere. The air was heavy with an undefinable sense of history, as if the very walls held secrets that had been locked away for centuries. The eldest daughter, Lily, shivered despite the warmth of the day, feeling an inexplicable sense of foreboding wash over her. The 19 years old goth teenager caught her mother, glancing at the old portraits hanging on the walls,
"Mom, are you sure we should be staying here?" Lily asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"This is our family home, dear," the blonde woman replied, her eyes fixed on the painting of a beautiful lady, dressed in a Victorian-era dress which barely hide her curvacuous body. "We can't just leave it behind.Besides it got plenty of room and it isn’t far away from town and your school.
Meanwhile, Emily’s son Tim groaned as he moved upstairs, crying his luggage toward his new bedroom. The tall, lanky 18 years old wasn’t particularely happy about his mother latest purchase but at least he could have his own privacy.
As they began to settle in, they couldn't help but feel a strange aura surrounding the house. It was as if it had a life of its own, with shadows that seemed to move and whisper in the corners. As they settled for dinner, Emily told them what she heard about the house. The legends whispered among the locals were both intriguing and unsettling. Apparently, it had a shadowy past, having once belonged to a rich family with a dark reputation. Some peopels said they were members of a strange cult, others said they regularly organised orgies and others act of debauchery within the walls of their manor.
The more Emily talked, the more the atmosphere in the room seemed to change. Lily began to feel as if invisible hands were caressing her neck, sending shivers down her spine. Tim, on the other hand, couldn't help but feel a morbid fascination with the stories, almost as if he was being drawn into a world of darkness and secrets. As they finished dinner, Emily told them they could explore the house as they pleased. The children left, each drawn to different parts of the house, each feeling a strange connection to the ancient home.
As she wandered through the creaky hallways, Lily found herself drawn to a dusty old study, its shelves lined with leather-bound books and ancient scrolls. The air in the room seemed to crackle with energy, as if the knowledge stored within these tomes was about to spill forth and engulf her. Lily had always been fascinated by the occult, her gothic look not just to distinguish her from the others.
"Mmmh, I don't know if mom's stories were bullshit or not but the previous owner had some strange tastes," she said as she stared at the shelves.
In another part of the house, Tim discovered a hidden door behind a tapestry in one of the guest rooms. Behind it was a narrow staircase leading down into a dark basement. The air down here was cold and musty, and he could feel the weight of centuries pressing down on him. As he explored further, he found a strange wooden door. The atmosphere in the room was oppressive, the air anormaly warm, making him uneasy. He tried to open the door but it was firmly lock.
Fumbling with the lock, he heard a faint whisper coming from behind it. It sounded like someone was trying to say something, but the words were garbled and incomprehensible. The hair on the back of his neck stood up as he listened intently, trying to make out what was being said.
Unlike his sister, Tim wasn’t reckless, his lack of confidence pushing him to retreat toward his bedroom. As the sun set down, the three family members spend their first night in their new house.
What's next?
A family of three have a new home, an old manor. The house's previous owner were a powerful family which vanished misteriously
