A close, inseparable pair

It was the town vs. Jake; as mayor, he'd laundered money right into his pockets all the while sleeping with a few of his employees' wives. There was no love lost when they brought charges against him. You wanted to work on the prosecution rather than the state DA. You wanted to bury him into the ground.
