The long walk back

Lux allows herself a few moments to catch her breath and savour her revenge before she takes stock of her current situation. She’s half-naked, alone, in the hills, with the sun low in the western sky. Her own armour and weapon are locked somewhere inside the Great Machine’s realm, sealed for – well, maybe forever, now.

Part of her wonders if anyone will believe her story when she gets back to town. Back out in the real world, with the door she just escaped through now hidden near-seamlessly in the cliffside, she wonders if she believes it herself. Still, the bandits shouldn’t cause anyone any more problems – that will have to be proof enough.

With the setting sun as her guide, she begins the walk back, thankful to have come away from all this more or less unscathed…
