Chapter 4 by braunackerman1 braunackerman1

After dinner

Walking back

“These groceries are kind of heavy, what did you guys put in here,” asked May.

“I think yours is mostly snack food,” said Ellie.

“Great, so you’re complaining about bags of chips while I’m dragging a watermelon half a mile. Real sympathetic May,” said Kami

“I can get that for you m’lady,” said Lane , taking May’s bag and hiking his up onto his shoulder.

“Such a gentleman, Lane. Also nobody made you carry the watermelon Kami,” said May

“I should have been paying attention when people started picking stuff up,” muttered Kami under her breath.

The group was walking back to their rental, ready to retire for the night. The Sun had already disappeared for the day, and everyone was a bit tired from the long day in the car. The walk back was mostly done in silence, everyone just taking it the salty air and feeling that special mix of heat and humidity, interrupted only by the grants of Kami dragging the watermelon along. Both Reed and Chris offered to switch their bags with her, to which Kami told them to worry about themselves.

Eventually the group made it to the house, a two story, pastel yellow house with a porch that wrapped around the second level. Walking inside for the first time, the group entered a large living room with multiple couches, a giant floor to ceiling window showing off the beachfront. To the left of the living room was a dining room with a large glass table, connected to an all white kitchen with a large walk in pantry. To the right of the living room was a bathroom, and the largest of the bedrooms, which Ele immediately claimed.

With the middle floor of the house explored, the group split up to go find their own rooms and explore to the second floor and basement.
