Kami

Kami couldn’t sleep. She wanted this day to just be over, to forget about what happened in the bathroom, but her body wasn’t letting her. Kami rolled out of bed and staggered across the room. It took her a few minutes of rooting around in the dark to find the ziplock bag buried at the bottom of her suitcase, but eventually she felt the thin plastic brush her fingers.

Kami had promised herself she would wait until later in the week to get high, but after the day she had had Kami didn’t have as much self restraint. Kami broken apart the seal and pulled out one of the yellow gummies. Being around people could be trying sometimes, and weed was a great way to deal with it.

Kami went to pop the gummy in her mouth, but paused midway. Not here. Her room felt like it was a million degrees and Kanu needed a physical escape before her mental one.

Sneaking out quietly, Kami made her way across the hallway and out onto the porch, closing the door behind her. A nice breeze blew across the ocean and into Kami’s face, cooling her off. Kami looked up and noticed how clear it was tonight, and all the stars out. Kami smiled. This was right.

Kami sat down on a plastic chair and popped a gummy into her mouth. Kami chewed and swallowed, then just sat there gazing at the stars. Then she took another one. What the hell. not like anything important was going to happen tonight.
