The Lead Up To The Fete

Conversation between Diane, Aditty and Stew :

Diane : So, it's impossible to find the apparatus for a ducking stool anywhere ?

Aditty : 'Fraid so. They only seem to be in museums. Not to mention the need to get a pool of some sort and a trigger mechanism to control the whole thing. It's just too difficult.

Diane : Pity. So that's crossed off the list then ?

Stew : Yeah, But the good news is, the stocks were surprisingly easy to obtain. And we can put them up on the platform we used for the other events, so everyone gets a good view.

Diane : Great. We'll just have to string out her time in there to compensate for no ducking stool.

Aditty ( laughing ): We've got enough plans for that anyway !

Diane : Quite. But we won't tell her about them. We'll put her in there fully clothed to start with and lull her into a false sense of security.

Conversation between Debbi and Carol :

Carol : So you're getting off lightly this month ?

Debbi : I wouldn't say that exactly. I've still got to go in some bloody stocks and have people throw wet sponges at me. That's not exactly getting off lightly.

Carol : No, but I guess it's entering into the spirit of the summer fete and at least you get to keep your clothes on this time.

Debbi : Yeah, miracles will never cease.

Carol : And you normally help out at the fete anyway ?

Debbi : True.

Conversation between Debbi and Jeff :

Jeff : I must say I'm pleased to see that there are no moans and complaints from you this month about the fete. That's two months in a row that I haven't had you storming into my office !

Debbi : What's the point ? I'm not exactly overjoyed that people will be paying to throw wet sponges at me. It's not the most dignified thing in the world but at least I'm keeping my clothes on.

Jeff : Oh, it won't be so bad. It's all good family fun, you know how everyone looks forward to the summer fete and I'm sure there'll be others in management taking part in various ways too. Needless to say, I expect you to co-operate fully with Diane and Aditty as usual.

Debbi : Yeah, whatever.
