Giuliette

The door creaked open once more, and Giuliette stepped inside.

She closed the door behind her, looking at Selena with a tight, vindictive smile. She wore the purple bow in her hair, and had a white dress on with huge, baggy skirts. Her dark was curly.

“What do you want?” Selena snapped.

“Now, now,” Giuliette said with her voice full of attitude. “Don’t forget why you’re here. Varga is down in the dungeon. I could go down there at any moment and slit his throat.”

“Please don’t. I’ll do whatever you want.”

“I thought that’s what you’d say.”

“What do you want from me?”

“You two really fucked things up for me, there’s no way I can fulfil my destiny with the three enchanted items." Her face tightened in frustration. "Now all I want is ****.”

“You already have it.” Selena looked down at her feet. She’d already disgraced her mother and father’s names.

“Oh, you haven’t suffered nearly enough yet, fair Selena. You’re the only one who knows who I am. I can’t have that. Javier will banish you and have you sent up the river and out to sea to the northern lands." She stared at Selena for a long moment. "But I want more than that.”

“What do you mean?”

“If you’re banished… maybe one day you’ll return. I can’t have that. When Javier comes to inform you of your banishment, you shall beg him for forgiveness, for your mother and father’s sake. You’ll offer to sell yourself into slavery over the sea. You’ll fetch quite a price; you know how much your uncle loves money.”

Selena’s heart caught in her throat at the thought of it.

“I’ll be watching. If you don’t do as I say, Varga dies.”
