(Subplot) Cassie’s Introspection

The naked redhead exited Melanie’s apartment quickly to get back to her laptop in her car. Cassie looked up and saw the attractive voice was coming from a very handsome gentleman. Cassie felt herself grow flush and cleared her throat before speaking, “I agree. Men just think they can get whatever they want all the damn time.” She had a glint in her eyes when she stared at him as if the comment wasn’t just meant for the protagonist. He chuckled and pulled out the book out of his satchel to prove he wasn’t just making things up. His book looked worn down as well, indicating he didn’t just buy the book fresh from the shelf.

“I can promise I am much more refined than the main character. I am more like his brother that focuses on the little things and has an attention to detail,” he said as his words started to melt Cassie like butter. They conversed a bit longer about the book and other works from the same author. Cassie had been a lone wolf and her last boyfriend was around college time when he couldn’t stop sticking his tiny prick into anything wearing a skirt. She could feel that he was trying to be genuine and it had been a while since a man didn’t just say “Nice tits!” or “Hell of an ass!” Her stop was coming up rapidly but she was enjoying the conversation with the stranger.

He was taking when she interrupted him, “I’m so sorry but my stop is coming up after this one. I really did enjoy this conversation with you as it had been the nicest one with a man in a very long time.” He smiled and gently put his hand on her book that caused Cassie’s heart to skip a beat. Cassie had the stone cold front that the mystery man was breaking down with every second they were together. Not once did he mention her physical features and instead focused on connecting with her through shared interests.

“Maybe I can invite you out for some tea and we can keep talking about other works from the author?” He asked her to break her out of her train of thought. She was about to say something but he continued, “I’m would be lying if I didn’t say that you are immensely attractive but nothing is more sexy to me than a woman than puts her brain to use. I don’t want you to feel any pressure to do anything else besides this wonderful conversation. ” Cassie could feel her heart pounding from his suave words and his own handsomeness. Cassie was being saved like a damsel meeting her Prince Charming.

As the bus stopped at her stop, she didn’t move and instead asked, “Just a cup of tea right?” She had that same glint that made the man chuckle again. He nodded and waited to see if she was going to exit. Cassie didn’t move as she continued to stare into the man’s eyes. “So where are we headed to…by the way what is your name?” Cassie asked him since they had been talking for a while without introducing themselves. “My name is Cassie,” she said extending her hand.

“What a lovely name. Mine is Charlie. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance,” he said as he grabbed her hand gently and placed a kiss on her knuckles. Cassie’s armor was being stripped off every second she was with Charlie. She could feel her flush cheeks and increased heartbeat that she had never felt once in her life. She was convinced that she was experiencing love at first sight. He spoke again, “I know a great cafe at this next stop,” he said as the bus came to a stop. He offered his hand once again and she grabbed it as the two of them exited the bus hand-in-hand.
