The fourth tenant

Jane wasn't in a great mood. She was routinely checking her watch. Finally, Em arrived. "Sorry for being a little bit late."

Jane didn't even respond, she just walked to the car and we followed. After we arrived at the place with the last affected tenant, I had realized something. If she had nothing new to report, then maybe this familial doom loop could finally end. I needed a break, too. I needed to process all of the things that happened in my life recently.

The woman opened her door. She didn't even say hello, she scanned me top to bottom, smirked, and closed the door. Was this a nightmare where I wake up after realizing I was naked? I looked down on my clothes, no, I was fully dressed. Even the zip on my pants was closed, it wasn't me. Jane interrupted my confused thoughts by ringing the doorbell again. The woman opened the door again.

Jane: "Miss, we're here to remove the camera and ask you a couple questions."

Tenant: "Hmmm... no. I don't mind him watching." With that, she closed the door and left us baffled.

James: "Wh-What?" I was probably red as a tomato.

Jane: "Ugh, I don't have the time for this. I'm not gonna stay here to convince her to let us in."

James: "Let me try again, Jane. We can't locate the camera without your help and it would be wrong for this one to stay." Jane +5SP (+43SP)

I rang again. This could honestly be a great comedy skit, if the situation wasn't so weird.

James: "Excuse me for ringing again miss, but we really do need to remove the camera. At the end of the day I do still own the building and I get to decide these sorts of things."

Tenant: "Mr. Goodman, don't you like what you see? Just imagine being able to see what your dear tenant Laura hides underneath these clothes... Just for you to see..." Suddenly, the app activated. Laura -20SP Another low SP one. They're usually the ones that already like me for one reason or another.

I wanted to respond, but I was still too dumbfounded by the situation. But considering the first time we rang, did she make that choice impulsively? Just after seeing me? That seems very odd... But if I was dumbfounded before, I don't even know what to call my state after the next thing I hear.

Emily: "Listen, I'm just here to get paid and do my job. If you want him to watch that desperately, just record it yourself and send it to the company email." I didn't expect Em to bring that kind of attitude and openness to the table. I didn't even get points for this! She really meant it.

Laura: "Eugh, fine. But I'm not answering any questions. I need to spend the rest of the day thinking long and hard what pajama to wear. Naked. In front of my closet."

Jane: "Well, if I'm not really needed here, I'll just go. This isn't for me." Strangely enough, Jane wasn't mad at me, I don't even think she was judging me at all. Did this sort of thing happen often?

James: "If anything is different, I'll call you."

Jane: "Thanks." Jane +3SP (+46SP) With that, she was off and we went in. The apartment was quite nicely decorated, she seemed to be a college student.

Laura: "Thanks again mister, for letting me stay here for such a low price."

I think Laura was trying to start flirting, but Em interrupted: "GRC is well known for having low rents and allowing people like you to live in better homes." Emily +4SP (+5SP) Wait, why did Em gain SP? Oh. She must have realized that this situation is kinda uncomfortable for me as well, and decided to help.

Laura continued: "But I like your idea with the phone, it might have a better resolution as well so you could see more of the details, Mr. Goodman."

Em interrupted again, helping me: "Found the camera. I think I got good at spotting them." Emily +3SP (+8SP)

James: "Yeah you're doing great, Em."

Laura: "Tell me Mr. Goodman, is there any outfit you think I should wear soon?"

Emily: "Tell Officer Miller that they installed the wires rather sloppily. In my professional opinion this must have been the first house such a camera was installed in." Emily +3SP (+11SP)

James: "On it, Em. Anything else before we go?"

Emily: "No James, we're ready to go."

James: "Well then, goodbye miss. I know you didn't like this, but I'm glad we could do this. It is my responsibility to take care of the buildings, after all."

Laura: "Mmmh, just watch the first video I'll send you and maybe you'll care about the tenant too..."

It was time to go.

"She was kinda crazy, right Em?"

"Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with her. Maybe she just needs some validation? I mean it is better than posting nudes on the internet I guess."

"Hm, I never thought of that. I hope she finds a partner that likes her soon, for her own sake."

"Honestly, I doubt it. What is it, that dudes always say? 'Don't stick your dick in crazy'? Maybe it's just girl instincts but this isn't the last bit of her craziness too, I feel like."

"Oh god. I'll ignore her for now, I think. In any case, thank you so much for your work today, Em. And for getting her to agree with the camera removal."

"No problem, James. We still have one more thing to do today though, right?"

"Oh right, the contract."
