You enter your room and close the door behind you. You flop onto the bed and cry into your pillow. “It’s so frustrating. I want to be happy for them!” You chastise yourself.

Olivia POV:

You’re proud of your sister. She held together quite well. Now, what can you do to help?

Merry frets, “I hope mom will be alright.”

Tiffany sighs, “She’s still mad about us leaving.”

“Let’s move our hands. We promised to clean up,” you remind your nieces. “Your mom loves you, and she’ll support you no matter what.”

“Yeah, I know,” Tiffany replies dismissively.

You tap your finger on the counter. “I won’t argue with your choice. I just want to ask you to consider the benefits of staying.”

Tiffany continues washing as she complains, “Now you’re trying to convince us too?”

You swish around in the soapy water. “Just suggesting a change of perspective.”

Merry asks, “A change in perspective?”

You laugh. “Perhaps. I’m your aunt, after all. We don’t know anything other than raising you girls.”

“That’s true. Every parent gets emotional when their kids leave,” Merry says.

You shake your head, “I wouldn’t say every parent. But we are close and raised you on our own. So our connection is quite close. We’ve even been having adult fun lately.”

You lift your hand to stop her. “I’m just asking you to consider it.”

“We’ll think about it,” Merry says.
