Chapter 2 by TVWintergreen TVWintergreen

What's next?

Failure

Shandris walked Delaryn into the testing area before the portal. There were quite a few applicants, but a pair of girls were waiting for them in particular. One had long teal hair and a lighter build. She had deep silver eyes with a particular shine to them that only really existed in those connected deeply to Elune. The other was a tall, muscular girl with a long, thin spear at her back. She wore a purple hoodie over her trainee uniform. After looking for a moment, Delaryn noticed a small nightsaber cub staring out from the hood. It barked as they approached.

“Hi.” The purple-haired girl waved casually before stuffing her hands back into her hoodie pockets.

“Hi.” Delaryn echoed from behind Shandris. The girl cocked her head to one side as she regarded Delaryn.

The other girl offered a friendly smile to start with, then extended her hand. “I take it by the fact that our leader is dragging you along that you are joining our team?”

Delaryn chuckled nervously. “That seems to be the case.”

Shandris interjected, getting between all of them. “Girls, this is Delaryn. She’s an Ambusher with mixed specialty.”

The spear-user nodded. “I’ve got a taming and tracking specialty. My Name’s Raene and I’m aiming for the Huntress role. Nice to meet you.”

“I happen to be a healer, but I’m here because I can also stand on my own two feet when it comes to athletics and fighting. My name is Amara. Very nice to meet you. I am not aiming for a specific role, I just want to help the guild.”

Shandris smirked, pointing at Amara with her thumb. “That means Priestess role.”

“Ah… I feel a bit outclassed. I’m not sure what I can do that the three of you can’t.” Delaryn admitted self-consciously.

Shandris patted her hard on the back. “You’re a pure ambusher so you’ve got better experience scouting and performing sneak attacks.”

Raene nodded. “Shandris and Korra and I are more suited towards fighting head on.”

“Uh…” Delaryn looked around.

Raene smiled and pointed over her shoulder. “Korra is this cub, here. She’s my mount.”

Delaryn blinked at the little cat. “Seems like you’re the mount right now…”

Raene huffed lightly. The other girls laughed. Shandris chimed in. “It does look like that, huh? But you’ll see. Or maybe you won't have to, hopefully.”

“Hopefully.” Delaryn bowed deeply and respectfully, in a way that was far too formal for the girls present. At least, that was the look that they offered each other in response.

“I’ll work hard to support everyone with what I do best.” She was pulled out of her bow by Shandris and brought to the side of the group as someone else approached. They could be heard but not seen at first, with heavy armour making a metallic noise as plates overlapped. Delaryn stammered and pointed.

“W-Warden!”

“Not a Warden.” Raene corrected. Delaryn breathed a sigh of relief before the girl added with a smirk.

“The Leader of the Wardens.”

“What?” Delaryn felt her soul leave her body.

Maiev looked over the possible troop, but only really saw one of them, despite the few seconds of commotion from ones she would call rabble. She stared down at Shandris.

“We will accept a lucky few into our ranks. Just so you know.”

Delaryn covered her mouth and glanced over to see Shandris’s reaction. The Warden’s were one group within the Sentinel’s Guild. They tended to handle everything from managing tests to security for any of the Guild’s most prized vaults, but they were also supposedly called in for difficult tasks not fit for the regular guild members. They tended to recruit warriors. It was an honour to be considered. The one standing before Delaryn was

‘A-Another collectible! Maiev! Another collectible statuette is standing right before my eyes!` She gushed internally. Then the offer that Maiev was presenting to Shandris hit her and she glanced over to see their Leader’s reaction.

“Decline.” Shandris waved her hand dismissively. Delaryn’s face went ghostly pale.

“I wanna do my own thing. You understand.”

Maiev sighed. “I do. Let us stop holding up these proceedings for everyone else. “

Delaryn looked past the Warden and noticed a few other groups that were waiting to start. One group in particular was looking at them rather jealousy for having the attention of Maiev. The Warden returned to the front of the portal entrance and spoke in a loud tone.

“Alright. As you all have likely gathered, the trial involves survival within the Dungeon Gate. This means defeating enemies, gathering food for yourselves and keeping your own protected. That includes other teams where possible. If you fail, there will be another chance to take the test. If you lead to someone else falling in the trial, however, you will never be given another chance. With that being said… There has been a change in plans.” She eyed Shandris’s group suspiciously.

“It seems some of you planned for this. The test will now require applicants to gather information about messages being sent back and forth between orc villages.”

“W-what!? But that favours scouts!” One of the girls from the jealous group shouted.

Another chimed in, pointing towards Shandris, who was smirking cockily, absorbing the stares with her arms crossed.

“Isn’t this special treatment?”

“There is no special treatment.” Maiev clarified.

“Then how-”

“It is clear that the group which specialises in scouting will be able to gather information more efficiently. This is why you are complaining? Are you serious!?” Maiev boomed. All the kaldorei quieted down.

“Is there anything else? Good. Go in. If you run into trouble, seek a proctor. I will also be present near the entrance should anything occur.”

Delaryn whispered to Shandris. “It’s a shame they assumed straight away that you cheated to get that information.”

Shandris stared blankly at her. “Oh, I totally cheated.”

“Huh?” Delaryn stopped.

Shandris grinned, grabbing Delaryn’s hand to drag her along. “Come on!” She winked and added in a lower tone with a wink.

“Cheating is also a skill.”

Malace seethed. “Dammit… It’s so unfair. We’re TRYING to join the Warden’s but the test favours the only girl that disrespects their name with her fowl tricks!? Uuuugh!” She stomped forward, punching a tree.

Jin’s ears drooped. She lifted a hand. “C-careful.”

Vela knelt down, tracing her hand over some unique tracks. She looked up. “Hey… Got something.”

The Warden hopefuls were Malace, Jin and Vela. The three girls had joined with the intention of impressing Maiev and the proctors, only to have the modus of the test change out from under them. Luckily Vela, a lithe, short girl knew a little something about tracking. She had ghostly white hair tied back in a long braid.

Jin was a green-haired elf with faded freckles over her cheeks and a powerful set of measurements for her chest, hips and waist.

Malace was the last of them, and the leader. She happened to be the most athletic, and the most frustrated because her only skillset was somewhat invalidated by her only weakness, stealth. She had hair that was quite rare; the colour of falling leaves. It was tied up into a high ponytail.

“God dammit!” Malace shouted, sending birds up into the air.

“Hey hey…” Vela sighed.

“Mal… The noise.” Jin warned, seeming in an awkward spot to have to correct the girl’s behaviour.

“Fine.” Malace scoffed.

“Wouldn’t have been a problem if we could just fight.”

“Maybe we can?” Jin remarked.

“The other will get information faster, with less attention, but we can still just proceed as normal and get it all through kills and combat.”

“Hoho.” Malace grinned, enjoying that idea.

“Girls!” Vela raised her voice. When she had their attention she pointed down.

“Proctor footprints. Heavier set, but thin. Which means a woman in heavier armour. But… She’s being pursued by a heavy figure with a wider footprint. Bare. That means an Orc.”

“Why’s a Warden Proctor getting chased by an Orc? Doesn’t make sense…” Malace thought out loud.

Vela looked over them. Too close with not enough disturbance. “Looks more like one is walking with the other.”

“Together?” Jin gulped, looking around with a shrinking posture.

Malace lifted a long brow. “Probably just taking a hostage.”

“That could be true.” Vela nodded evenly. Something about it rubbed her the wrong way, but it was the best explanation.

“It may be a good idea to let me take the lead here. I can handle scouting and-”

“Listen… We already agreed that I’m the leader. Right, Jin?” Malace remarked indignantly.

Jin avoided looking at either of the two girls. “I just want to pass the test. I picked Malace because she would help us pass the test.”

“That’s right.” Malace nodded.

“I would-”

Jin continued. “But now that it’s changed… Vela does know how to track and scout a little.”

Malace pointed. “I-I’m not gonna let you take the glory from me! I’m the leader. When we pass the test, Maiev is gonna see me as the one that led us to victory! That way, I’ll get a fast pass into the Warden’s division. You girls as well… Under me, of course.” She explained.

Vela sighed. “I don’t want to push the issue too much. That’s fine. I was just offering. You can even take credit for-”

“I’ll lead.” Malace repeated. The two other girls nodded.

Miles away, at the same time Delaryn also traced tracks. She followed them slowly and methodically while observing her surroundings. The plains were not perfectly flat, they rose and fell like waves which allowed small groups to hide in the little creases in the country. This worked in favour of both them and the orcs, she reasoned, moving carefully despite being on a timer. Surprisingly, the group did not pressure her to be quick about her work. They seemed content to wait as long as it took for safe, accurate information and Delaryn was happy to provide. She carefully crested the hill in front of her, not allowing herself to show too much of a silhouette as she peaked over to scout the other side by sight. She was shocked when she noticed a pink figure laying face down in the grass with light teal hair. She almost didn’t process it for a few seconds, then it dawned on her all at once and she hoarsely whispered into the Comm.

“B-body. There’s a body here. It's Kaldorei.”

Shandris’s voice came through, some chatter was cut and the noise in the background went quiet.

“What? You sure?”

“Of course I’m sure. I’m looking at a body. She’s stripped down, face down in the grass. I think it’s a Warden.”

“That doesn’t make sense… How’s a Warden gonna get caught and stripped down? This is a beginner Dungeon.” Shandris commented.

“Whether it makes sense or not, that’s what I’m looking at…” Delaryn insisted.

“I’m going to go down and-”

“Wait! Wait for us. Raene and I will back you up and Amara is already going to send word to Maiev. Don’t do anything rash, it could be a trap. Keep your head on a swivel, girl.”

Delaryn took a deep breath. “You got it. Sorry, don't know what I was thinking.”

Lyani turned and opened her eyes suddenly, startling a trio of girls. She only recognised one, Shandris, though the other two were Raene and Delaryn. She held her hands up, warding them off.

“D-don’t touch me! I’m dirty!” She screamed. They exchanged a confused look, then Shandris spoke to her calmly.

“Miss Lyani? You aren’t dirty at all. But where are your clothes?” They had thought she had been ravished when they first saw her and became worried, but on further inspection her body barely bared any signs of a struggle, or even a consensual encounter.

“What?” She held her head in her hands and looked down. She could still almost taste the semen in her mouth. She could feel it all over her skin and in her hair. She felt warm and wet and sticky… But when she actually looked and felt over her body there was nothing there.

“Ha… Haha…” She shuddered.

“Miss? What happened?” Shandris asked dutifully.

“Are you okay? We have a Priestess on the way with help.”

“Good.” Lyani was relieved to hear that. She was nervous and a little worried that the same fate would befall the trainees. As they asked her, and she thought to recount what happened her mind felt fuzzy. She had a hard time recalling what happened. This seemed to be due to some form of interference, but the most direct interference was her arousal. She felt like she was in heat and was leaking enough to show it. The evidence was all down her toned thighs. She blushed and shook her head.

“There was a fight… Something happened. I don’t know how I ended up like this. I don’t know where my clothes are.” She admitted shamefully.

Raene stepped forward and patted her on the shoulder. “It’s okay. We’re here, now.”

Shandris smiled. “Del, go check for Amara and Maiev, but also look out for any orcs. What was special about the ones that attacked you, Miss Lyani?”

“Nothing…” She shook her head.

“Nothing. They- they were weak? I killed… most of them? Why can’t I remember?” She shifted uncomfortably, staring at her hands and over her body.

“You don’t smell that!?”

“Smell what?” Raene and Shandris shrugged.

“It’s so strong!” She clutched her head and curled up. “I feel like I’m going crazy! So strong… So dirty… Sticky…” She moaned.

“I can’t get it off.” She continued muttering like that incoherently while the girls stared at her.

Shandris and Raene stepped away from her to convene. Shandris asked. “Any ideas?”

“Seems like trauma, but then there should be signs of something that caused it, right? Wardens are supposed to be mentally and physically strong. I can’t imagine she’d get shaken up by nothing, but it looks like nothing.”

“Doesn’t make sense. Would an orc do something to her, then clean her up and heal her?”

“Then only take her clothes?” Raene finished the thought.

“No way. Not gonna happen.”

“Guys, I see Amara and Miss Cordana.” Delaryn called out from the crest of the hill they were in the shadow off.

“Cordana?” Lyani uttered.

“What’s wrong?” Shandris asked, kneeling down next to her.

“Don’t-” She gulped.

“Don’t trust Cordana… Communications gone. Quiet… Doesn’t make sense.” She shook her head.

“It doesn’t make sense.”

“Alright, alright. Relax, okay?” Shandris begged.

“Sorry.” Lyani whined.

“I’m the veteran, but you girls are the ones holding things down right now.” She buried her face in her knees.

“Sorry…”

Shandris patted her back. She looked to Raene and waved Delaryn over. “What’s up?” Delaryn asked, sliding down the hill to get close.

“Don’t show her that we’re suspicious, but be guarded around Ms. Cordana. Just to be safe. Del, you keep her in your sights. If we all watch her she’ll think something’s up. May not be able to appraise Amara so just be aware that she probably won't know the plan.”

“Got it.” Delaryn nodded.

“Aye, Captain.” Raene gave a loose salute.

As they broke from the mini meeting, Cordana and Amara crested the hill. “I found a proctor!” She immediately moved to the side of Lyani, ready to begin healing, only to notice the same thing the others already knew.

“She’s fine? What happened?” Amara glanced between Shandris and Raene.

“Seems like it’s all mental.” Shandris commented.

“What about Maiev.”

Cordana straightened out her posture as she chimed in coldly. “I am as good as Maiev in an emergency, but if you must know, I have already sent word through the portal. Lyani, report!”

“Uuh…” The Waren looked up at Cordana nervously.

“Comms?” She asked.

“What happened with-”

Cordana sighed theatrically. “Useless… She is in shock.”

“What happened with comms?” Shandris asked.

“She mentioned calling for help and not receiving a response.”

Cordana stopped and turned to Shandris. The girl was undeterred by the Warden’s firm stare. After the long pause, she just shrugged and answered by clicking her communicator.

“Mine is working, but where is hers? I do not remember receiving a call.” She stared searchingly at Lyani.

“We will need to carefully unravel what happened here. I will take my comrade, you all may continue the-” Lyani yelped and crawled back a bit.

“I’m not wrong!”

“Lyani!” Cordana snapped back at her.

“You are mistaken.”

Shandris interjected, moving to Lyani’s side. “We’ll handle getting her back to the portal.” Lyani looked up at Shandris like the girl was her saviour, gratefully clutching her arm before suddenly and abruptly letting go, trying to shake something off of her hands that is not there.

Cordana smiled, exhaling out her nose sharply. “If you leave, for whatever reason, you will fail this test. All of you. Understand? Wardens will handle the business of Wardens. Trust me. I have her best interest at heart. I will take her. You continue your test.”

“Nah.” Shandris shook her head.

“I dunno about you girls. I don’t wanna fail you but I wanna look after her myself since it feels like the right thing to do.”

Cordana clenched her fist tightly, but otherwise kept her reaction subdued. “Do you all feel so lackadaisical about your one chance to enter this guild? You will all fail.”

Delaryn frowned. “It sucks, but I’m with Shandris.”

“Obv.” Raene rolled her eyes.

Amara clasped her hands nervously. “I’m not sure what is going on, exactly… But as troubling as this is, I trust Shandris.”

“You-!” She scoffed and turned.

“Fine, just go.” Cordana waved them off.

“You will NEVER get into the Guild. None of you. I will stay back and investigate here.”

Shandris picked Lyani up with Raene, turning up her nose at Cordana. “Wanted to do my own thing, anyway.” She looked to Delaryn apologetically.

“Sorry. I know this wasn’t what you wanted.”

“It’s fine. I wanted to do a little good. This qualifies.” She said that, but could not easily hide her disappointment.

“I just don’t get why we distrust Ms. Cordana?”

“Lyani’s terrified of her. Raene said it best. Wardens ARE strong mentally and physically. It’s not going to be nothing.”

Delaryn searched around nervously. “Then aren’t we a target?”

Shandris pointed to herself proudly. “Don’t worry, we’re strong physically!”

Raene sighed, pulling the growling cub Delaryn had seen before from her hood and setting her down. After a few seconds The grey-striped Nightsaber cub grew into a full-sized mount, complete with dagger-like claws and teeth. To Delaryn, it looked like barely an incantation had been spoken, but instead, subtle runes on the Cub and on Raene around her neck lit up together to create the effect.

“And I guess being thick headed could mean we’re ‘strong mentally.’ Throw her on Korra’s back so we aren’t slowed down.”

Vela hung back, despite the fact that she was the scout. Malace took ‘taking the lead’ to mean leading the way, as well. She decided to continue looking for clues from behind, but the other two were getting a bit ahead of her, since the nervous Vela stuck close to Malace for safety. The tracks leading the orc diverted earlier, telling her that if the creature was taken prisoner, he was released, which felt incredibly unlikely.

Playing catch and release with an orc? I’ve never heard of that once in my life. Unfortunately, Malace did not want to follow either set of tracks. She was solely focused on the parameters of the test. As she was looking around, Vela caught a glimpse of something in the distance through the trees. She stopped and shouted ahead.

“Hey! Stop!”

Malace circled back. “Why are you moping back here? I already told you we’re headed to the main paths to intercept some orcs.”

“There’s a Warden through the trees that way. I got a glimpse of her armour.” Vela commented.

Jin stated reasonably. “They’re the proctors, so it makes sense to see one, no?”

“No… It doesn’t.” Malace observed astutely.

“If they’re seen, that means they want to be seen. Let’s go.” Malace led in the direction Vela pointed.

“Maybe they’re approaching us as hopefuls for their division?” She grinned.

“Not sure.” Vera kept her head on a swivel as they moved towards what she saw.

That certainly got her attention…

About thirty or so yards through the woods they came across a peculiar sight. Set up in the light of a clearing they observed a set of empty Warden’s armour set up on a make-shift stand to look like it was occupied. On closer inspection, however, the helmet was obviously empty and there were no legs, just sticks and twigs bound together to jut up into the armour and hold it up

“Weird.” Malace commented, approaching the suit. Vela nodded idly, thinking it was incredibly weird. However, once she was not distracted by the oddity of the suit, she looked down and noticed orc tracks all over the clearing.

“Malace stop! It’s a trap!” The girl drew her moonsword and Jin did as well shortly after. Malace stopped a few feet away from the armour, unmoving thereafter. Vela glanced all around frantically.

“Malace, just step back slowly.” She advised.

“Uhm…” Malace intoned.

“What’s wrong!? Move, draw your weapon!” Vela ordered.

“I- I can’t! I feel like I’m tied up straight. I can’t move my arms or bend over or anything.” Vela was sceptical but soon allowed some of her attention to be diverted. She witnesses Malace behaving like someone tied to a stake. Her arms were at her sides and she was struggling against invisible bonds. Vela looked at the ground, confirming there were no roots. She then centred her gaze on armour.

“There must be a totem inside. Jin, can you hit it with something?”

Jin nodded and quickly got a spin going on her glaive. She spun around and tossed it hard towards the armour. It toppled it, slicing right through the sticks holding it up. Then it whistled around before coming back to her.

“Good work, Jin! Malace, how’re you doing?”

“Ah!” She screamed as she fell over. Her hands were crossed behind her back and her ass was in the air while her face was cheek down in the dirt.

“This is even worse!”

Jin tried to think. “If we rope her foot we can-”

“We got a bigger problem.” Vela mentioned, backing up so that Jin and her were in close formation. She saw it, too. Orcs were emerging from the woods to surround them.

“We need to get out…” Jin whispered.

Malace’s long ears twitched. “Don’t leave me!” She whined.

“We can’t leave her.” Vela sighed deeply.

“Vel…” Malace began to thank the girl tearfully.

“Save it!” Vela ordered through gritted teeth.

“We can’t take them all.” Jin claimed nervously, her hands were shaking.

“That’s why… We have a backup.” Vela quickly reached back and pulled out an emergency flare. They were given out to the test-takers in case something disastrous happened. They were meant to call the proctor’s to the location. She kept one hand on her sword, opting the take the string in her teeth and pull with her neck as she thrust it up towards the hole in the clearing.

“Here. We. Go?” The flare fizzled, puttered, then gave off a puff of smoke.

“It’s a dud!?” Jin screamed.

“No… Someone cleared it out. A dud wouldn’t have done anything.” The Orcs closed in on them.

Minutes later Vela was on her knees with her hands tied behind her back and her ankles tied together. She tried to look away from Jin’s predicament. The girl was surrounded by orcs. She echoed her earlier statement with a low groan.

“W-we can’t… take them all…” A member belonging to one of the orcs pushed between her already defiled lips. After the first orc, Jin stopped trying to fight and started trying to deal with the situation. As another was pushed to her cheek she pulled her head back and accepted that cock between her lips as well, alternating her plush lips between all those in front of her. She held a cock in each hand that she stroked rather skillfully. Her training to use a sword in either hand was paying off, truly. Behind her, an orc was even wrapping her hair around his cock, using that to jerk off. When he was done he simple ejected his load deep into her locks. Jin shuddered.

“U-ughh… It’s so gross… It’s all so gross.” She mumbled before another cock impatiently filled her mouth. This time the orc left no room for her to leave him. He gripped her head and pulled her down over his cock forcefully. Her eyes rolled back so far that they turned white. Vela cringed, seeing her throat finally surrender and bulge out as the orc’s abnormally long cock pushed down inside, probably reaching her stomach. He used Jin as a toy, pulling her over his cock until he threw his head back and nutted right down into her gullet. He made sure to pull out as slowly as he could manage, all while Jin was convulsing for air. Finally, as it popped free from her lips she made a gross, lewd sound and spewed white up like a fountain before falling back into the ‘supportive’ arms of the orc behind her.

“S-stahb…” She begged, swaying on her knees. Her nose, eyes and mouth were leaking. Her face was a mess from orcs that decided to cum on her face due to her mouth being occupied.

“Dammit… Jin, stay strong!” Vela uttered. It was all she could say or do. However, as the orc behind her bent her forward, mashing her face into the grass as he craned his whole, fat ugly body over her like a rutting beast, Vela had to close her eyes and look away. Her ears twitched as the sounds of Jin screaming at first, then slowly groaning, then mewling and moaning and begging filled the air.

“Jin…” Vela knew she was lost. Then there was the matter of Malace.

“Where are you?” She wondered out loud in a tone that was just under her breath. Just as she was asking that, she saw Malace stumble in a zombie-like fashion out from behind some trees.

Malace’s eyes looked over to Jin, but her body did not stop stumbling forward until it arrived in front of Vela and collapsed down onto its knees. Vela searched Malace and found that she was likely not in control of her body, but was still there. She was marked on her belly. It was such a clean tattoo to have happened so quickly while she was just out of sight.

“Jin…” Malace lamented quietly.

“Jin’s gone. We need to figure out a way to get help, otherwise we’ll all be the same. Understand?” In the background, as that sentence was being made, Jin had turned around and happily spread her legs. A different, fatter orc had draped himself over her small form, embracing her and forcing his tongue onto her mouth as she kissed him back by sucking on it. He rutted into her animalistically and she let out little affectionate yelps with each thrust. Vela blushed, able to see the orc cock curving into her cunt so easily due to the natural length they carried.

Malace bit her lip and hung her head. “You should’ve been leader.”

“No time for that. What can you do?” Vela asked pointedly.

“I’m tied up… If you can-”

“Nothing.” Malace shook her head.

“I can’t do- Haaaah! It’s starting again!” She uttered breathily, leaning herself fully onto Vela.

“H-hey! Cut it out!” Her breasts pressed into Vela’s. The girl rested her face in the crease of Vela’s neck and shoulder as she struggled in her bonds to get free.

“What’s wrong?”

“It’s starting again…” Her ess shook. Curiously, Vela noted with her keen perception that Malace was moving as if she were being rutted into, but there was no one there. Her body was swaying forward and back, her muscles in her legs and stomach were tensing and Her ass was rising and falling a little with each invisible thrust until finally the girl came from seemingly nothing. A fountain of juices sprayed down her thigh. Malace panted, clinging to Vela.

“Malace! Focus. Tell me what happened? What’s happening?”

“Th-the totem…” She breathed.

“Was made into a doll of me. Face like mine. Body like mine. I feel myself in it somehow. So crazy… It’s squishy. The shaman fucks it like a toy a-a-and I felt it… I actually felt it like it was going in!” She looked down, running her hands along her body. She sounded like she was under a spell.

“I feel his hands on me still. Around me…”

“Malace, calm down.” Vela spoke right into her ear to get her attention. Malace was in a state. Her hair had been unbound and those autumn-coloured locks were cascading haphazardly over her face with no sense or order. She was sweating and dazed and seemed uncomfortable in her skin, like it was unfamiliar.

“You’re not that… thing. Whatever that is. You’re here. Try to focus on being here. Forget about wherever that shaman has.”

Malace nodded, closing her eyes. “It’s working… Vela, you’re a g-” She stopped suddenly.

“Malace? What’s wrong? What happened? Stay focused. If you get enough movement you can untie me while they’re occupied with-” Vela gulped, seeing Malace’s eyes go pale as if she had passed out, but Vela could tell it was different. She only hoped the girl had passed out. She fell forward, face burying in Vela’s cleavage. She was like a doll with her strings cut. Vela looked up in confusion to see the shaman, finally. He was chewing something proudly while leaning against the tree proudly. In his one hand he held up the totem Malace mentioned, only it had no head.

She said it had a face like- She stopped cold. The shaman had spat out something small, allowing it to roll over to her. As it arrived face up Vela saw a very rough, rubber-ish approximation of Malace’s face. It had been bitten off the doll, chewed up and spat out. Vela wasn’t sure what to think at first, then slowly the reality dawned on her and she simply screamed, losing all reason.
