Chapter 3 by Miki727 Miki727

Is Mona in danger?

Idk is she?

It was around late in the evening, Mona didn't feel anything particular when traveling at night but she'd prefer traveling by day for obvious reasons. Still she was confident with her skill set and experience as the great Astrologist Mona Megistus should be! She always put on those airs and would remain on her high horse unless confronted about her master or her financial status. Eventually she heard some rustling from behind, startled she didn't pick up on the presence and even more so that the stars didn't warn of her an impeding encounter. She finds herself turning to stand, a catalyst appearing beside her as she gets into a wary stance.

"Oh dear, did I startle you youngster? That's no good, ol Linel didn't mean to startle ya."

The lanky figure steps out into the open while still remaining in under the shade of a nearby tree. His skin was pale, as pale as the moonlight with skin as dry as the desert soil. He wore rags that formed a sort of dark cloak, a large tunic that went down to his thighs but no pants, at least that's what it appeared to her. His thin boney legs barely holding him up by the looks of it, he supported his weight with a wooden stick he uses as a large cane. Besides being bald and ugly, his teeth looked rotten and yellow, let's hope he doesn't smile often.

[I can't seem to read any bad intentions coming from him, it's strange how I couldn't pick up on his presence until now..]

Mona cupping her chin while shifting weight onto one leg while in deep thought. The old and kind(?) man smiles but luckily without the help of his teeth, because of this Mona seemed to put her guard down just a little. Unfortunately for her, her vision was the cause of this distortion, the color still faded but Mona wouldn't know or be able to see it as it still hangs behind her neck.

"Lil miss, are you okay? Gone all silent on me.."

The old man would glance up at the sky, with the sun completely submerged under the horizon and with the moon coming to replace it. He steps out more confidently although his movement was slow and rather sluggish.

"Ah, my apologies. Err I mean it's alright."

Mona felt it was a bit intimidating with her catalyst out so she slips it away into a space and stands a little less tense then she did a minute ago.

"Seems you're lost ain't cha? Not many people come round' these parts."

He places an arm behind his back to hold his back upright while the other is used to support himself with the stick.

"Well, to be honest I'm here searching for an old friend of mine. You wouldn't happen to know of a witch in scarlet red? She's an old colleague of mine you see."

"a witch in red ya say? Hm.."

He stares at Mona or should I say stares at her beautiful curvy figure, his eyes stray from her eyes and wander down to her hips and shapely thighs. Although mona could see this, when using her hydromancy in front of him, it only showed his intentions coming off as a means to be wary of her presence.

[That's.. strange, well I did pull my catalyst out.. to be honest my magic must seem like witchcraft to someone who's never seen such.]

Mona once again puts her guard down even further, stepping closer and offering a reassuring smile.

"I am Mona Megistus, rest assured. Our meeting was fated by the stars, I will not bring harm to you. I'm simply looking for a lost friend, I hope you understand."

The old man seemed startled when she stepped closer, afraid she would confront him over his sleaziness but on the contrary..?

"Oh, ah.. I s-see.."

It takes him a minute but seeing how she defenselessly puts herself out in front of him. He has no other choice but to accept his ‘fate’ with a wicked smile on his old wrinkly lips.

"Think I might've seen a gal like so, headed on towards the village I live in. Bet the elders would know of it more, how bout I lead ya back through em woods. Won't take us more then half a day.."

[Half a day? Well yeah at your pace I'm sure! Oh celestials, is there really no other way around this..?]

Mona looked across, of course she can cover more ground if she left him behind and checked but the forest at night would be more then a pain to search through. Not to mention how huge that forest might be, who knows how many times she will get lost and with the left over rations she has left.. she might need to weigh her options here..

Does Mona accept or go another route?
