Chapter 20

What's next?

Melinir is Rescued

Melinir couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t the fear of being a captive of the dark elves, no, it was the frustration of being teased for so long. He rolled aside, trying to see if there was any give in the rope that bound his hands to the bedpost. It was elven rope; it wouldn’t loosen unless it was being untied properly; there was no way he could slip it.

Tiryna had left him alone. Hopefully she’d keep him alive in the morning. Though knowing the dark elves, she’d probably kill him before he’d ever get a release.

Light footsteps appeared in the tent. In the dark Melinir couldn’t make out who it was.

He recognised the scent. It couldn’t be.

“Shh. Keep quiet,” Meilind said as she cut the rope that bound him. “Follow me, and hurry.

Melinir hurried behind her, walking on the balls of his feet. He thought about asking about his clothes, but he’d have to worry about that later.

When they were out of the dark elf camp and into the forest, he turned back, wondering about Nystar.

“Don’t worry, he’s already safe.”

Meilind led Melinir through the dense forest, avoiding any tracks that could lead the elves back to their party. The night air was crisp and cool, and the sound of crickets and owls filled the silence around them.

"How did you find me?" Melinir asked, his voice low.

"I knew you'd be coming this way," Meilind replied. “Our leader was warned of your presence when you reached Riverswood.”

Melinir nodded, acutely aware he was naked in front of her. Not only naked, but his cock had a semi from all the teasing. The tip was sticky with pre cum.

“I… I’m sorry for what happened to you.”

“I’d rather not talk about it. Just follow me to Woodhouses. You’ll be safe there. We’ll get you some new clothes and the pair of you can be on your way.”

Meilind didn't look back as she continued to lead him through the forest. He followed her, feeling the cool grass beneath his feet and the strange sensation of relief that he was no longer bound or teased by the dark elves. But he couldn't shake the feeling that something was still not right.

The night wore on, and the moon began to wane, casting eerie shadows across the creaking trees. Melinir walked silently behind her, his mind racing with thoughts of the escape and his impending freedom. He couldn't help but think of Tiryna, her lips pressed against his, her body entwined with his. The memory was both a torment and a pleasure, a reminder of the tantalizing proximity he had been brought so close to experiencing, only to be cruelly snatched away by Meilind's surprising intervention. Would she have ever let him have his release?

Finally, they reached their destination: the small settlement of Woodhouses.

Nystar sat on the branch of a tree, looking down at them.

"I'm glad you're both safe," Nystar said, jumping down from the tree branch. "It was touch and go there for a moment. Melinir, you're going to need to get dressed and get some rest. We can't have you wandering around like that."

Melinir looked down at his naked form, feeling embarrassed and out of place. He quickly grabbed the furs Nystar handed him and wrapped them around his body, trying to cover as much as he could.

As he looked around the settlement, he realized that there were several other elves present, all of whom were looking at him with curiosity and concern. They must have been waiting for this moment, ready to help in case the dark elves had caught them.

Meilind's eyes met Melinir's, and he could see the relief in her expression.

“Thank you,” Melinir said. “For saving me.”

She sighed. “I only wish you might have done the same for me, back in Hallinir.”

Any more words caught in Melinir’s throat. He could have done something, said something, back when his mother had Meilind flogged. “I’m sorry.”

“Save it.”

She walked off, and Melinir watched her, his mouth wide open. It was agony, it had all been his fault.

Nystar tapped him on the back. “You’re going to have to forget about her, Melinir. Nothing will ever fix what happened to her.”

Melinir nodded. He looked around at the village, it was clear from the stares and the posture of those standing around that they weren’t welcome here. New clothes had been left for him on the ground, a tunic, breeches and boots. He put them on, and he and Nystar were on their way.
