(Mc) Her Roommate Beth

Kaley sat cross-legged on her bed, the Regenesis Tome cradled almost reverently in her lap. Worrying her plump bottom lip between her teeth, she pondered how to address the issue of her loud, obnoxious roommate, Beth.

"I wish Beth wasn't so annoying all the time. She is always so mean to me.” Kaley sighed wistfully. She then grabbed the cover of the mysterious tome and flipped directly to an entry titled "Beth Smith". Kaley’s eyebrow raised quizzically. ‘Thats a little weird.’

Emerald eyes widening, Kaley drank in the intimate details of Beth's life splayed across the yellowed parchment. It was like reading a wiki page dedicated solely to her roommate. Suddenly, a particular line caught Kaley's attention:

"Beth Smith's college roommate is Kaley Simmons. Beth thinks Kaley is snobby and prudish for never coming to parties with her."

"What?!" Kaley gasped, cheeks flushing scarlet. "I'm not a prude! How dare she!"

Fingers trembling with indignation, Kaley snatched up a pencil and began to furiously scribble out the offending text. Tongue peeking out the corner of her mouth in concentration, she carefully penned a replacement:

"...Beth thinks Kaley is the coolest person on campus and wishes they could be best friends. Beth adores everything Kaley does."

Sitting back with a satisfied smirk, Kaley admired her handiwork. "There! That's much better. Now maybe she'll finally appreciate me."

Just then, a tentative knock sounded at the door - a stark contrast to Beth's usual habit of barging in unannounced. Kaley's brow furrowed in confusion as she called out, "Come in?"

The door swung open to reveal a beaming Beth, her eyes sparkling with adoration. "Kaley!" she squealed, practically tackling her startled roommate in an exuberant hug. "I'm so glad you're here!"

Kaley stiffened in shock, unused to such touchy-feely behavior from her normally standoffish roomie. As Beth continued to shower her with compliments and affectionate caresses, Kaley couldn't help but marvel at the Regenesis Tome's incredible power.

"Beth, what's gotten into you?" Kaley laughed awkwardly, gently extracting herself from the blonde's octopus-like embrace. "Why are you acting like this all of a sudden?"

"What do you mean?" Beth chirped, cocking her head quizzically. "I've always adored you, Kaley! You're smart, funny, gorgeous... honestly, you're perfect! I'm just so lucky to have you as my best friend!"

As Beth launched into a gushing litany of praise, Kaley bit back a smug grin. Oh yes, she could definitely get used to this...
