Who else but the zealots?

The party went on for awhile before anyone made a move to approach me. I spent the time talking with Millana, carefully avoiding her attempts to trap me into a variety of situations or proposals. She seemed subtly confused as to why I kept avoider her advances, but that was not my current concern. Oliver seemed content to avoid talking, and I had no wish to prompt him and **** him to interact.

After quite a decent amount of time of dodging social tripwires, one of the other groups finally decided to approach. I was in the middle of a conversation with Millana when a voice called out to me, "You are Mathew, correct?"

Millana paused her sentence and glared at the person behind me, as I turned around to face them. The figure was a woman who looked to be in her late 20s or early 30s, she wore a priestly robe and had a great amount of golden jewelry, including a tiara. "Indeed, I am Mathew Kiegan, how may I be of service?" I activated God's Eye to confirm what I suspected of their identity.

Lana looked between me and Millana, ending on me with a judging look. "Father says you are a priest?" Her following seems to have a similar feeling as her, a sense of curiosity mixed with judging looks.

I gave a slight bow to her, "Indeed. During my travels I ran into your sister, who was kind enough to allow me to join her on her ride to town." I worded this in a way to intentionally not imply anything but still be able to be taken the wrong way.

Indeed, Lana looked at Millana with a raised eyebrow, to which Millana actually looked flustered. "I see... Regardless of your relationship with my sister, may I ask what god you are devoted to?"

I nodded, "Indeed, though I doubt you will know of them."

She scoffed, "What, do you worship some spirit or angel instead of one of the proper goddesses of light?" Her group joined her is mocking this assumed fact.

I shook my head. "My god most certainly is a proper god. The fact simply is that he was born new to this world."

This caused the whole group to go silent. Lana looked at me intensely. "You claim you have spoken to a new god?"

I smirked, "Indeed, my lord Moged-Ruun has recently awoken."

She looked down her nose at me. "You dare try and lie to me? I have heard no whispers of a new god, not even from my lady. And you also refer to them as lord? There is no man god, your pitiful attempt to come up with this idea shows you as nothing but a charlatan."

Despite what she must have thought, I did not back down or change stance at all. "Your lady may simply not have noticed him yet; I do not know her systems of information. As for my lord, he is most certainly existent, and I may provide proof if you wish." I tilted my head, looking down at her in turn, which was more comfortable and simpler for me than her as I had a good few inches on her.

Her entourage recoiled at my response, and she herself wavered. She regained her composure, though had less of an aura than before. "You dare speak back to a priestess of Miranda? Fine than, you shall prove your god by showing his power in a duel against me." The whole party went silent. The armored individuals watched with amusement and seemed happy about this update. The nobles seemed disappointed or judging, I got the sense they were thinking something along the lines of; 'what pitiful ruffians, how undignified of them'. Lana's followers seemed a bit taken aback, but didn't seem worried, at least for her. Millana was shocked and looked between me and Lana rapidly, seemingly unsure of who to worry about. And lastly, Norman was looking my way, seemingly curious as to what would come from here.

I gave a hearty chuckle as I responded, "I would love to."
