Samia gritted her teeth and nodded, determined to survive this ordeal. She had to push through the pain and humiliation to make it out alive.
The other prisoners watched Samia as she trudged away, their eyes full of envy and resentment. She could feel their stares on her back as she began her gruelling task.
She heaved the buckets up onto her yoke, feeling the weight of the water tugging at her shoulders and back. Her muscles burned as she lifted them, but she refused to show any sign of weakness.
She started to walk, her shoulders hunched under the weight of the water. Each step was a struggle, but Samia kept moving, one foot in front of the other.
It was already last afternoon, and she still had another journey to make. She hurried up the hill, managing to get there quickly and hurried back down with the empty buckets.
The last delivery was difficult, the weight was hard to cope with, and the weather was getting cooler, there was even a little drizzle on her naked skin, but she made it to the labour camp just in time.
