Chapter 15

It is likely that the opportunity to use your weapon will occur very soon...
You pick up your weapon from the blacksmith. And also: an event occurs that explains something that happened to you earlier.
You get the task done pretty quickly: the size of this village is small, so you quickly get to the forge.
A pair of armed peasant militias accompany you.
This was the order of the headman of village. And you, due to recent frightening events, find this accompaniment useful. Indeed: if werewolf attacks occur in the vicinity of this village, and some mystical atrocities occur inside the village with the participation of a satyr and an imp, then walking alone is a dangerous activity.
So, you pick up your weapon from the blacksmith. Now your weapons are coated with a layer of silver: your sword, small battle axe, arrowheads. This will be useful given the fact that the wolf-like monster that has already attacked you receives some increased damage from silver (as opposed to iron or steel).
As you walked through the streets of the village, you see the consequences of what you said to Durlen. He gave orders that will affect all the inhabitants of this village.
Groups of armed peasant militias go to each of the peasant houses. The militia **** ordinary villagers (including: women, children, old people) to leave their own homes to be brought to one of three fortified defense points (an inn, a temple or a blacksmith's house).
After you have taken your weapon, you look around and see the bustle on the streets of the village. You see frightened peasants, many armed militias. And you also see the rapid changes that are happening to some of the buildings.
The militia are dragging various heavy loads out of the blacksmith's house. The entrances to the blacksmith's house are reinforced with logs and wooden boxes. The windows are completely barricaded so that it is impossible to get inside the house through them. A blacksmith places iron traps near the main entrance to his house. It is clear that what you managed to find out prompted the villagers to seriously prepare for defense.
You go to the inn building. Approaching this building, you see the same state of affairs: barricaded entrances to the building, windows completely blocked by barricades, many armed peasant militiamans.
You were about to go inside...
Suddenly…
You hear the voice of the headman of village.
Durlen Gruy, out of breath and sweaty from running, runs up to you. He is accompanied by a group of armed militiamen. The appearance of the headman of village demonstrates a state close to panic.
He says abruptly: “We searched the houses of the peasants... We checked almost every house... And, at the last moment, we found something... You must see this, honourable Raul!”
You nod and quickly follow Durlen Gruy and the group of peasant militia that accompany him. You are heading to the northern part of the village of Olinsford.
Twenty minutes later, Durlen leads you to an old, dilapidated wooden house whose walls are made of pine logs. The fence that surrounds this house is broken in many places.
You go inside the house with Durlen. He leads you to the basement.
You go down the wooden stairs. One of the peasant militia holds a lamp in his hands and illuminates the space of this basement for you.
You are following Durlen. He leads you to some kind of wooden table. This place in the basement would be hard to notice. But the light from the lamp helps you see the details.
Although, perhaps, it would be better for you not to see this... disgusting sight...
You see a wooden table on which there are small stone figurines, which are surrounded by decorations made of wicker branches and dried plants.
These stone figurines...
These stone figurines are painted with something... something very stinking...
This is a familiar smell to you... You, like any hunter, will immediately recognize the smell of blood and decaying flesh.
On a wooden table near these... “altars” there are sacrificial offerings.
You look at these offerings with disgust, feeling the urge to vomit...
Cuted off human ears, cuted off human fingers...
And also...
In a small glass container... some kind of solution containing torn out human eyes...
Stone figurines smeared with blood depict some disgusting images. In total you see four stone figurines: one depicts an anthropomorphic satyr-like creature with furry legs, hooves, a huge dick and a thick belly (on the creature’s head there are powerful horns and thick matted hair); the second stone figurine depicts something... unnatural - a six-legged spider, which, instead of the usual spider head, has the head of an old human woman with long tousled hair; the third stone figurine depicts a multi-armed incomprehensible creature (it seems he has eight arms; but he has no legs at all!) who has no face... he only has many toothy mouths and eyes on shapeless flesh; the fourth stone figurine depicts a fox standing on its hind legs and holding a strange staff in its front paws (a human skull is visible on one end of the staff, and some kind of flower is visible on the other end of the staff).
These…
These are unholy altars of evil pagan deities, the mere sight of which inspires horror and an irresistible feeling of disgust to any reasonable and pious person.
You seem to remember the name of one of these monstrous deities - a satyr-shaped monstrous stone figurine depicts a deity named Painal. You've heard about him for a long time and you don't know much about him. You remember that this is a cruel and aggressive deity, which is so dangerous and disgusting that only bloodthirsty savages in the deep forests far from cities worship him. And one more thing: this deity is associated with satyrs. Therefore, the fact that you fought with a satyr in the temple, who was disguised by the magic of illusion, is quite logical. If the deity Painal is connected with the bloody chaos taking place in this village, then the appearance of satyrs here is not surprising.
But, there are three more “altars” here... Three more vile, cruel deities, besides Painal...
Three dangerous mystical entities that are unknown to you.
You are scared to even imagine what other threats may arise...
But something is obvious to you.
It is obvious to you that all this abomination... all these things are just additional evidence that one of the villagers was a secret accomplice of the monsters that attacked the village.
You try not to panic.
You ask Durlen: “Whose house is this? I hope you have arrested the owner of this house?”
The Headman of village says in a guilty tone: “This is the house of the old woman-healer Meribela... Unfortunately... When we searched the house, she was no longer here... We had to break down the door... Meribela probably managed to escape...”
You frown with displeasure and say: “It’s a shame that you missed that one, who is clearly one of the culprits of the tragic events taking place. Meribela... Was she a healer in your village? But this means that..."
The sudden realization is extremely unpleasant: if this woman was the village healer, then this means that this woman healed your wounds the night after you returned to the inn after your first "meeting" with the werewolf, which took place in Old Ditmar's Gorge. This woman... Meribela... She could come into your room at the inn while you were sleeping...
You quickly ask: “Did Meribela come into my room while I was sleeping? Did you let her treat my wounds?”
Durlen nods and mumbles: “Yes... Unfortunately... We didn’t know then that she...”
Now the disappearance of your silver dagger does not look so mysterious.
Obviously, the old woman-healer Meribela knew about the werewolf's vulnerability to silver. She came into your room while you were sleeping. And she stole your silver dagger.
Vile lying scum!
She's clearly trying to do everything she can to make things worse for the villagers!
She served these disgusting cruel deities! She helped the monsters kill the villagers! She was probably practicing unholy magic!
You are lucky that Meribela, taking advantage of her position as the village healer, did not poison you while you were sleeping. She probably simply underestimated your abilities and thought that without a silver dagger you had no chance against the werewolf.
You ask Durlen and the peasant militia: "Have you searched the house thoroughly? Have you found my silver dagger?"
Unfortunately, their answer is no. The dagger could not be found.
Apparently Meribela took the dagger with her.
You gesture to the table with the unholy disgusting “altars.”
You say: “Destroy all this... Destroy all this abomination... The stone figures must be broken with hammers... Everything else must be burned! Let only ashes remain from this abomination and from this entire house of the traitor Meribela!”
After that, you get out of the basement and you leave this house.
You are walking towards the inn. You need to give additional instructions to the peasant militia regarding the organization of defense.
So what will happen next?
