2+2-1 Sharp = 3 - you reveal some information to the monster. ("Where are you right now?")

Phuong squints at the mushroom for several seconds, tilting her magnifier this way and that, before letting out a frustrated sigh. "It's too small," she growls, putting the glass down. Unnoticed by any of the group, her hand brushes the sample of fungus on the table as she does so and it twitches slightly. "I can't tell anything with this...we need actual equipment."

"We could try a lab?" Daisy suggests. "Some of the science labs must have, like, microscopes and stuff."

"Yeah, but their use is generally supervised." Phuong frowns. "Like, either there are people in there working - which I'd bet there are, right now - or they're locked."

"I could probably help with the latter problem," Ali says with a smirk.

"I dunno if we wanna get kicked out of school for breaking and entering..." Daisy says uneasily.

"There's no need," Phuong says, looking decisive. "We have other ways of figuring out what's going on. Ali, you said there were other people there?"

Ali nods. "The bartender and some guy who'd been waiting for that girl to show up. Rick, I think he said his name was?"

"Ok. Since you know them already, you guys head over there and see what you can find out from the scene and if you can track those two down. Maybe one of them saw or knew something, maybe there are cameras outside the bar...something. I'll meet you there."

"Where are you gonna go?" Mike asks.

"I'm going to talk to Dr. Heath," Phuong says with a sigh. "I hate bothering him, but he might be able to tell something we can't."

"That's your professor who's in your...order?" Daisy asks uncertainly. Phuong nods.

"More the reverse - he's the Beloved's local cell leader who happens to be a professor - but yeah."

"Should I come with you?" Mike asks. "I mean, if it's Beloved stuff?"

"I think...not now," Phuong says with a sigh. "Better for you to see him when we've got a success to report."

"Ok," Mike shrugs. "We'll see you in Weston, then?"

Phuong nods and begins to pack up her stuff as the others head out. "Text me if you find out anything!" Daisy gives her a little wave and they depart.

Alone, Phuong takes a moment to smooth her skirt and make sure her cardigan is neat. I hate going to Rupert without anything to report...it makes me feel like an amateur. Well, and he makes me feel like an amateur. But...the important thing is taking this monster down. She grabs her bag and heads out across campus. A few minutes later, she's standing in front of the dark oak door labeled "Dr. Rupert Heath" in gold letters. She takes a deep breath. Total secrecy. Total obedience. We serve, and he rises. She knocks on the door.
