Turn Around

Despite Charlie's demands, Ethan turns. At this point, not doing it would be awkward, as the girl is standing right next to him.

Twisting slightly he finds himself around eye level with a familiar-looking blonde girl, although Ethan can't quite place where he knows her from. She looks to be his age, but hazards a guess she could be slightly older or younger. It takes a beat for Ethan to realize that despite the fact he's sitting, he's still slightly taller than her. The girl is quite short, not even breaking five feet.

"Hey, Sam..." Charlie clears her throat slightly

The short girl turns her gaze to Ethan, her blue eyes warm and inviting. "Hiya, Ethan."

"Hi..." Ethan feels himself caught on the back foot, surprised she knows him by his name. She does look familiar. Do they know each other?

"You two know each other?" Charlie asks for him, her tone casual. To casual.

"We've met once before," Sam shifts her eyes to Charlie. "Couple years ago."

Ethan stares at Sam for a moment, really trying to place her. She looks wickedly familiar, but no bells are ringing in his head. It's only on this second, much more complete, look that Ethan gets a better sense of her.

She's short, certainly, but on his initial glance he had thought her a bit on the pudgy side as well. It's only after his eyes wander slightly that Ethan notices she's not pudgy, but instead just considerably top-heavy. She is just so short, and her chest so wide, Ethan couldn't properly measure her figure.

His gaze lingers.

"That so?" Charlie's tone is slightly sharp. "So, what're you up to? You here to get yourself a popsicle?" She waves her half-consumed treat in the air.

Sam shakes her head, long blond hair bouncing. "No, just going to meet up with Ash."

"Ah," Charlie shuffles slightly at the mention of her sister, but Ethan doesn't notice. "So you're hanging out at my place..."

"Mhm," Sam nods, an almost serene smile on her lips. Not that Ethan would notice. "You two heading that way?"

"No." Charlie is quick to answer. "Not today. We're heading back to Ethan's."

While this was news to him, Ethan doesn't really respond.

"Hm," Sam shrugs. "Well see ya around I guess," she shifts her gaze to Ethan, smiling. "Bye."

"Bye..." Ethan manages to say, his head not quite in the game.

"Bye." Charlie's tone is sharp again.

Quick as she came, Sam departs, Ethan watching her go, suddenly feeling slightly bummed out.

A hard punch in the shoulder drags him back to reality. "OW!" he rubs the spot Charlie hit, turning to her. "What was that for?!"

Charlie's nostrils flair, her eyes narrow. "You looked."

They sat there in silence for a few minutes, finishing their popsicles. Ethan notices Charlie is barely making any noise eating, but fails to think into it any deeper.
