Talking over Lunch
The three teens decided to head into town for lunch. The place is bustling with shops, restaurants, and, of course, ongoing battles. They passed four fights just on the way to the diner! Combatants being flung this way and that, leaving property damage in their wake. R.O.B. units followed behind them and did their best to repair the devastation.
The three teens decided on a quaint little sandwich place on the outskirts of the action. After getting their food, they found a booth and dug in.
While it started with small talk, the conversation over the meal eventually grew more personal. Specifically, the teens talked about why they were in the tournament. Why they had sailed all the way out here, risking their bodies and their dignity. It turns out, their answers were all very similar. Really, what they all wanted was a chance to prove themselves. Prove that they could stand with the best fighters in the universe.
Each of them had earned great accomplishments. Min Min had won the ARMs Tournament. Roy had defended his kingdom. Leaf had defeated the Elite Four. However, similarly, each seemed to stand in the shadow of others. ARMs was not a well known sport outside of Min Min's homeland. While Roy was a mighty warrior, he was far from the greatest in his land's history.
Most of all, though, Leaf was constantly playing second fiddle to the most famous Pokemon Trainer from her region. Red was widely considered to be the greatest trainer of all time, and was in fact another competitor on the island. As Leaf talked about it, her companions could see the passion in her eyes.
She wanted to be the one everyone looked up to. The Champion of the Kanto Region.
The meal had done more than just satiate their appetites. It had fired up their spirits.
They were ready to score some victories.
