What does Izanami do in class?

“Fix” the language barrier

Izanami rolled her eyes once again at the sight of the projector board filled with English lesson notes. To her she language was ugly and inelegant. Japanese had no shortage of complications but at least every word sounded pristine or even poetic.

She decided she wasn’t going to take it anymore.

Old Rule: Japanese is the dominant world language and most schools use it primarily.

In the blink of an eye the projection had completely changed. All of the notes were now in Japanese and a quick look at the books of her neighbors showed all of their English written notes were replaced with slightly ugly kanji and katakana. She looked again at the teacher’s desk and saw that he had been replaced with a beautiful Japanese woman around 30 years old. An unintended consequence, but one she wasn’t going to undo.

Throughout the class the still majority white students struggled to keep up with her verbal and digital notes while Izanami thrived. As flashes of old memories came to her she could tell she was something of a teacher’s pet, always preferred by her litany of other Japanese teachers in a school otherwise predominantly white. She could sense that more students looked at her negatively, but that no longer mattered.

She had the power to control this world, so she would use it as she wished.
