What's next?
Playing Catch-Up
Rae and I spend about as much time laying on the storage room floor together as we think we can get away with. However, we both know that it can't last forever. Someone (and by that I mean Audrey) will eventually need us for something, and if we aren't there when that person (again, Audrey) is trying to find us, we'll be in a lot of trouble. Well... I'll be in a lot of trouble. Rae will honestly be fine more than likely. But she's more concerned with my well-being than her own right now anyway, so she wants to keep me out of danger just as much as I do.
Reluctantly, we both get up and get dressed. The entire time we do, Rae continues to shower me with compliments about how well I did, which is a tad embarrassing, I'll be honest. It kind of feels like I'm a kid who finally managed to hit the ball for the first time in their little league game. Not exactly the best way to look at your first sexual experience with a person. Still, the sex itself was better than I could have imagined, so I can deal with the weird coddling that comes with it if I have to.
Once we have our clothes back on, we leave the room, and I make my way back to my desk. Without anything important to do, Rae decides to come with me so that we can continue to chat while we wait for an assignment. Thankfully, Audrey is nowhere to be seen when we arrive, which allows me to let out a much-needed sigh of relief. Quite frankly, I'm shocked she's not here yet. It usually doesn't take any time for her to start piling up work for me to do. That said, I'm not going to complain about getting a break this morning.
With nothing better to do, I talk with Rae about various topics, which is a pleasant enough way to pass the time. Rae remains laser-focused on me and my interests no matter the topic of discussion, but I'm already learning to expect that while she's in her Mommy form. She sits there and listens when I speak with her full attention, something that I certainly like more than the old Rae's tendency to ignore everyone else around her. However, our conversation is eventually interrupted, though it's actually by Luck rather than Audrey.
"Oh, hello, Luck! I wanted to thank you for giving me some alone time with my Kyle. We had quite the exciting time because of it," Rae smiles warmly from her position sitting on top of my desk.
"I can tell! You two are practically glowing!" Luck beams as she looks both of us up and down, clearly very pleased. "You don't have to say anything. I can tell what happened just by looking at you guys. And while I would have appreciated being there for Kyle's first time, I'm just happy it finally happened at all. I feel like I've been waiting forever."
"You make it sound like I was a virgin before now..." I say while giving her a side-eye.
"All I'm saying is that I'm glad to see that we're finally getting somewhere. If there was some kind of achievement system in this story, this is definitely the point where I would give you one," Luck tells me.
"Achievement? Story? What is she talking about, sweetheart?" Rae turns to me.
"Beats me," I shrug. "Sometimes I think Luck is just off in her own little world."
"Well, I suppose it is nice to have an active imagination," Rae chuckles, though I'm not sure if I would share that same sentiment. "So, Luck? What have you been up to the past little bit?"
"Oh, you know... just making a few last-minute adjustments to a couple things..."
I don't really know if I like the sound of that... Although, Rae's transformation has seemed to be working out for the best at this point, so maybe I'm worried over nothing.
"Ah, good. You're all here."

The three of us turn to see Audrey quickly approaching from the other side of the hall. Looking at her, the first thing I notice is that she's back to her normal body. I still have no idea how to describe the way she looked yesterday, but I can tell she's not like that again today. Though... there is something different about her. As she approaches, she readjusts her clothing, pulling her skirt up and fixing some creases in her shirt. She seems a bit out of breath, and her hair is a little messier than it usually is. In fact, she just looks less put together in general. I wonder what's up with that.
Audrey also doesn't seem to have the same dexterity she's usually known for. Rather than her normal gait where she swings her hips with each step, now she's taking shorter steps that appear much less calculated. It's as if she's more concerned with getting to her destination in one piece than trying to make sure she looks sexy while doing it. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but coming from Audrey, a woman who always seems to effortlessly exude style and charm, it's quite the unusual sight. Even Rae seems a bit perplexed as she watches Audrey shuffle her way over to us.
"Dear me... What happened to you, Audrey?" The redhead asks with worry.
"Rough morning. Don't want to talk about it," Audrey responds abruptly, immediately shutting down that line of questioning.
I then notice the blonde saleswoman glance to Luck, before quickly looking away. As she does, her face turns the tiniest bit pink, and she appears to sway slightly, as if her legs are suddenly having difficulty holding the rest of her body up. The reaction is only momentary, but I'm still able to catch it despite it's subtlety, even if just barely. Hmm... perhaps all of this has something to do with those "adjustments" Luck was mentioning earlier...
"Anyway," Audrey continues, "I'm kind of off to a slow start today, so I need you all to pitch in so I can get caught back up. I don't think I have to tell you how Carmen will react if she finds out we're behind."
Wait, really? Queen Audrey is having a slow start? What kind of backwards world am I living in? If I wasn't convinced something was wrong with her before, I sure am now. As always, I feel like it's a safe bet that some part of this is due to Luck's meddling, but I don't know how exactly. I suppose I'll have time to figure that out later though. If Audrey is right about one thing, it's that Carmen will have a meltdown if she finds out her top salesperson is having a bad day. And while I don't really appreciate Audrey saying "we're behind" in this context, I'm obviously not going to correct her, especially when she already seems a little unstable right now.
Audrey gives the three of us a list of tasks to do to help her get back on track. It's mainly things like making phone calls, setting up meetings, and finishing reports. It's not anything too different from most of what I do already, though there is a decent amount more human-interaction than I'm usually tasked with. It might be obvious by now, but I'm not exactly the most social person out there. Thankfully, both Rae and Luck are, so it's not a huge deal (even if I do have to make a point to watch Luck when she's talking to other people). It also helps that given her new sense of responsibility, Rae insists on handling more than her fair share of the work, and thanks to that aura Luck gave her to make her seem more trustworthy, Audrey barely even bat an eye at that decision.
"Okay, I think that's everything I need," Audrey says as she finishes her list. "And don't any of you dare screw this up for me. Looking at you, Kyle..."
Why am I out here catching strays? Rae has done almost no work in the year she's worked here and Luck literally started showing up here two days ago! Ugh, whatever...
"Don't worry, Audrey. I promise all of us will do our best! We'll have everything done in no time!" Rae assures her with confidence. She then turns to me. "Alright, Kyle. I'll leave you and Luck alone to work so we don't distract each other. But if you need anything, just let me know. I'll miss you, sweetie..."
Rae then hops off my desk and leans forward to kiss me on the cheek. My eyes go wide as I see Audrey staring directly at us in confusion. As Rae waves and walks off, the blonde woman just looks back and forth between the two of us.
"Uuuuh... you know what? I don't want to know. Just make everything on that list gets done," a slightly exasperated Audrey says before awkwardly making her exit, looking as if she's doing everything in her power to not trip and fall.
Well, that could have ended badly. Audrey must have really had a wild day to think Rae kissing me wasn't worth commenting on. Her reaction also confirms that while Rae's aura makes people more willing to follow her lead, it doesn't mean they'll be totally accepting of her new personality. And that means I still need to be careful when it comes to people in the office interacting with one another. Yet another aspect of all this it seems like I'll have to juggle. But hey, if it can result in more of the type of sex I had with Rae earlier, maybe it really is worth it. Key word being "maybe," of course.
