Taking Stock and First Steps

While she had been tossed into the entire site; Zaya found out that her own area of control was pretty small compared to the sprawling mess of a ruin. Memories of running across a college campus ran through her head. Meanwhile she had about 376 feet by 150 feet and doubled over two floor..., AGH never mind. The machine part of her mind was at odds with the more organic side of her head.

If one visualized it, she had about four lengths of basketball courts in terrain she controlled and about three wide. That was on the floor that held the Spawning Pit(she was really gonna have to think about calling it something else), and she also held sway over the floor just above it; only that territory was just a little smaller by maybe half a court each way. On the upside it was in the central 'building' of the ruins so it made getting around easy and it looked like her minions were slowly spreading her control. But she wasn't sure how far it would go before stopping.

At least in her current state. She was certain as she got stronger her dungeon would expanded. That's how this kinda stuff worked right?

The rooms were mostly barren; the pit was the largest but most the other rooms were either the size of a bedroom, living room, or maybe some sort of 'workshop'. Kitchen, alchemy lab, perhaps some sort of 'classroom'; these were a bit longer than the other rooms and seemed dictated to something besides sleeping, lounging or storage. Not that she could really tell much beyond some of the tables that were built into the floor or the odd fixture that survived the test of time. Granted anything that was still here was largely junk, scrap, or rubble.

So her dungeon was more akin to a two story dorm or school building. A ruined one but usable.

Next was her own abilities.

Slow and staggered steps were heard as a low moan came from a lipless mouth. The figure turned left to right, looking for the source of the sound. There it was again, a weak thrashing sound. It followed the noise, turning a corner....

THUNK THUNK THUNK

That was a lot easier than expected. A reassuring pet was given to the bait Larva.

Zaya had been using her faster Larva to lure out some of the local monsters in a controlled manner. Given the size of the site and her limited control; it made sense that other creatures would lurk in the ruins. If she'd been chucked into the mountains, she might have to deal with Goblins or Orcs or other things. Here it was just a few plant monsters, the odd rusty machine, and a few undead like that one that fell with a couple chunks of rock stuck to it's body.

She had two attack spells; Elemental Bullet and Lance. Bullet was a weaker shot about the size of a baseball but it was rapid fire. Lance took a bit longer to cast but shout out a length of magic shaped material in well a lance shape and size. Though if she knew where to aim and when to shoot, she could charge and hold a couple Lances so long as nothing disturbed her. Casting on the move was possible, but she found it harder to 'hold' a spell while moving.

Fire, Wind, Earth, and Water were at her command with both spells. Not Ice though which was odd, usually Water and Ice were swapped but maybe she could tech into that later. Or Light or Darkness; odd how she was a creature that got a bonus to those two Elements and couldn't use either currently.

"Maybe I should have picked Priest..." she thought as a hazy memory of her 'monster building' came back to her.

She did have access to explosives or 'bombs' as she was calling them. It seemed like she could generate materials to make somewhat violate bombs in the sense that they decayed quickly and became inert if not used after awhile. More permanent bombs were possible but it seemed like she would have to supply those materials from elsewhere. Something the Pool was more than likely able to do but needed base resources first. It couldn't make gunpowder out of nowhere but if she fed it Sulfur and...., whatever else went into it, the pool could at least Synthesize it.

"Synthesize, that's a good way to describe what the Pool can do." she thought.

Still what she could make was effective enough against the broken rustbuckets that haunted the ruins. At least her Fire/Explosive/Impact bombs worked.

Sadly, Poison wasn't something she was able of testing well. Most the creatures here were immune or highly resistant to them along with some of the statuses she was able to inflict. Wasn't any point in Charming a Zombie and and most the plants shrugged of Poison and Paralyze. So an entire section of her skills needed testing against something new. Her stealth was pretty good and while she hadn't tried Melee yet; Assassin did seem to help with her aim when it came to hitting weak points. She paused to look over how she was doing.

She was a little worried she wouldn't get to look at her own stats unless she took one of the buffs but didn't see to be the case. In fact she could also see the stats of the Qilope and Larva, even the Pool's. Was that because she was their lord, being part machine, or something else? However she was seeing said stats, it was just her and her followers.

The local monsters didn't show their stats to her, nor what drops they gave out. Well..., not until use or study; she found a few of the slime monster remains could be turned into poisons but that was probably due to her abilities involving poisons. An encyclopedia of poison and toxin knowledge was put into her head but it seemed like she could only access a bit of it. Probably so she could start off making some poisons but anything like "Lich's Crawling Toxin" was out of her reach till her growth unlocked it.

This simply meant that she would just have to work at finding out the stats of something. Too bad she didn't have an apprise stat, and the Pool could only show some info when it broke items down. Too bad the Goddesses didn't offer a board Appraisal skill or something.

Point was; if she wanted to find out someone's or something's stats, she probably would have to work at it or get the thing in question to reveal it on it's own. No instant scan cheat sheet for her it seemed...., well maybe there was a spell for that later? What sort of 'rpg world' doesn't have a scan spell of some kind.

It was lucky that she could ID some of her concoctions though. Slipping someone an aphrodisiac when she wanted to feed them a poison would be ugly, and even WORSE if that was the other way around. Much like the bombs she could make; her poisons, ****, and other substances could only last so long after production but she could make them for free. Kinda; making them took magic or energy or something so it wasn't like she could spam making poisons 24-7. But she needed more living subjects to see how effective they were.

Still, this was enough to get her a least a little used to her abilities before heading out. She could see it now; the new evil Demon Mecha lord summoned by the Evil Goddesses themselves to usher in a new era of wicked, cruel, debauchery...., killed by a town guard cause she couldn't figure out her spells. Carnachias would probably be laughing her heart shaped ass off from that before going back to the drawing board.

So now it was time to get this party started. It was just where to get going towards first.

In her gestalt memory she knew that there were three towns within traveling distance. Well, maybe one of them was a town. First was the big 'regional' town of the area. Basically anyone that was passing through this region would more than likely pass through this town, and it was a central hub of power and exploration for the region. Of course this meant it had the most experienced guards, mages, adventurers; not to mention it's own power struggle probably going on behind closed doors.

Next was a local farming village, full of nice hardy friendly folk that also hosted travelers but probably frowned on outsiders sticking around too much. This village would be much smaller and even hosted a guild for local heroes and adventurers, but it was no where near as big as the actual town was. It was from here that the two she had fused with had come from but they seemed to be outsiders in the first place. Still it might be risky to go to a place that had 'already seen her' in a sense.

The final place was known as a 'scrap yard', a small fortified workshop that specialized in looting the ruins. They would trade goods they found or made from the discoveries for food, weapons and other supplies, along with taking in a couple recruits. But they were even more closed off to outsiders. In fact searching the male's memory a bit she found that he had tried to work with them only to be kicked out. It would be hard to gain entry there, but they would probably have the most useful tools and knowledge to her.

Town. Village. Scrap yard. Or just strike out on her own or stay here and practice some more. She had to make a choice.
