Making a plan

You take your lunch break as usual, sitting alone on a bench outside the library. Only this time you feel really anxious. Samantha's text exchange the two of you just had is rummaging in your head.

-Hi :)

She would have never been caught in a million years writing like this before.

-I'm Samuel, from the library

-Yeah, I know! Sam and Sam!

That was how Ronald called your duo work hours, but you didn't know of the context of how that name came to be in this new changed reality.

-You okay? You left in a hurry today

-Yeah, was bored. No job and all ✌
-Just passing by

Once again, the tone is something the old Samantha would never use. She is five years younger then you, but she acted like she was ten years older, even outside of work. Was it from her occupation or her bookish type you had removed that block? Plus the no job really hits you in the guts.

Then you haven't continued, not really knowing how to dig deeper without looking like a creep. After ten minutes she had replied.

-catch you sometimes, k?

And that had been all.

Not trusting the library security system you have taken with you the watch. You have managed to grab MOM from Francesca when she touched your forehead. Before going out you confirmed that she still had children, but her attitude seemed... Neutral... About that fact. Another mess you had caused.

Mess you have to fix.

You tried giving her back the word directly, but it seems like the only way to do so is to mix it up with another, otherwise the screen doesn't turn red. The timing is what scares you the most. Sam had lasted ten minutes before running away, and it took half an hour to merge two words. Hopefully not more than that.

Finally, as your free hour is over, you are happy about your plan, neatly divided in easy steps:

• Step 1: Grab the LIBRARIAN word from Francesca with a touch.
• Step 2: Grab the BOSSY word from Francesca with a touch.
• Step 3: Mix BOSSY and MOM together, while making sure Francesca doesn't leave the library. You feel a bit of guilt about making her bossy, but you don't really know the woman.
• Step 4: Mix BOOKISH and LIBRARIAN and give it back to Samantha.
• Step 5: Find a way to give Claire back her ATHLETE trait by taking a word from her and fusing them together.
• Step 6: Destroy the watch.

The only changes would be in Nora being less of an asshole to her coworkers and Francesca's children having a worse mother. You could live with those.

Now, for the actualization.

"Hey, Francesca? Where does this book go?"

"Do I really need to do everything? Pass it here!"

Easier then expected. You glance at the screen:

BOSSY-LIBRARIAN

Together? Nice! You need to act fast, you scroll to the right menu and select the mixed up word, then you press the button to...

...Nothing happens.

You look for the single words on the left. They are not there.

You physically try and separate them with your finger.

Nada.

Maybe you need to substitute one with the other. You put MOM in the row below BOSSY-LIBRARIAN and try in any way to make it change or substitute without pressing the button.

Nothing.

You look at the button, taunting you with it's existence.
