Clove's Choice

She felt bad about leaving her bodyguard alone, but that was no excuse to leave Lif to face this monster on his own.

This was the right choice, she convinced herself. Rultr was tough; he wouldn't fall easily. She and the inquisitor just needed to make short work of this monster flower and then follow after him.

She released her magic with a wave of her hand, dispelling the incoming fireball. Doing so was surprisingly tough, concerning since her opponent was supposed to be just a low-tier monster, but it ultimately didn't matter as she could handle it. Just as she started to relax, she felt something hitting her hard to the stomach, knocking the air out of her and launching her into the air.

Confused and still mid-air, she searched where the attack had come from, only to see a stone pillar sticking out of where the pit Rultr had fallen into used to be. She then felt someone hugging her from behind, It was Lif, breaking her fall, who took this opportunity to whisper in her ear.

"This isn't an opponent we can afford to take lightly, use everything you have and don't get distracted."

Realizing the implications of what her companion had said, Clove bit her lower lip. She was telling her that they should put all their resources to use to defeat this monster, then retreat, leaving Rultr on his own. She didn't like the idea one bit, but she fully understood the logic behind it... In fact, depending on how tough this flower ended up being, even escaping on their own might prove to be impossible. Should they just retreat now? Or perhaps... her gaze drifted to a stone pendant hanging beside her holy symbol, Perhaps they should make sure the church learned about this place before anything else...
