Escalation But No Solution !

Tony fiddled ineffectually with the handle for another couple of minutes. "Sorry Deb, I'm not getting anywhere with this. Let me go and see if Tom's got any tools I can borrow." Tom was another of Debbi's neighbors from across the road. What had begun as a spontaneous fun idea to give a little treat to her kindly retired neighbor was threatening to get out of control. Debbi did not get on so well with Tom. He was something of an old school misogynist and she had had a couple of heated disagreements with him over street parking when he had blocked her car in. She could only imagine his amused response to her current predicament !

Debbi did not have to imagine for long however, because Tom not only had tools to lend to Tony but he came along with him to inspect the problem first hand. "Well well Debbi, what have you gone and done now ?" he asked patronizingly, running his gaze up and down her body as she once more attempted the inadequate covering pose. "You need a man about the house. Never mind, we'll soon get you out."

Tom's macho confidence turned out to be misplaced. His impressive array of tools failed to have the desired effect. "It must need a special component" was his excuse. "Oh for crying out loud !" Debbi exclaimed in frustration, feet planted and hands on her hips and forgetting how much she was showing. Tom drank in the sight appreciatively but also realized that they had to free Debbi from the shower somehow. "I'll call Jamie. He's more up to speed with these modern fittings." Debbi groaned. Jamie was Tom's son, who fancied himself as God's gift to women. She turned her back on them and rested her head on the shower wall in exasperation.

"Yeah, she's trapped in there....course she's naked, she was taking a shower....it's one of those deluxe models like Maureen's got....fine see you soon." Tom turned back to Debbi. "Jamie'll soon sort you out love" he leered.

"Tony ?" a voice called from downstairs. "Up here in the bedroom" "What are you doing up there ?" "Deb's got a problem, she's trapped in the shower." Tony's wife had noticed that he was no longer working in Debbi's garden and wondered where he had got to. "My, you're in a right pickle" she said as she joined the growing crowd in the cramped bathroom. "Can't you two big men get her out ?" she admonished them. "It's not that easy" said Tom defensively. "Jamie's on the way" he continued confidently. "Oh well then, if Jamie's on the way there's nothing to worry about" answered Tom's wife Doreen sarcastically. "I'd offer you a towel Deb or a nice cup of tea but we can't get anything through that door can we dear ?"
