Luffy Continues Working & Vivi Gives Her Speech

After Vivi left, Luffy went about cleaning up Vivi's room and taking her dirty clothes to be washed. He kept a Den Den Mushi on him so that when it was time to listen to Vivi's speech, he could hear it. Afterwards, Luffy went about and talked with a maid who he knew didn't recognize him as the person who really defeated Crocodile and she gave him some of her own tasks.

"Thank you so much for the help. Evem though you're clearly new here, we appreciate you taking some of these jobs off our hands," said the maid.

"You're welcome. Princess Vivi gave me this hob and I don't want to disappoint her," replied Luffy.

"I'm sure you won't," replied the maid as she left Luffy to continue on with her own tasks.

Luffy then proceeded to work his new jobs one by one until finally it was time for Vivi to give her speech. Luffy heard how Vivi, in her own way, talked about the Straw Hat Pirates and the Going Merry as they voyaged to Alabasta and kept her spirits high and shared in her burden. Vivi spoke of them in a way that only those who knew the truth knew who was referring to, but the vast number of civiliand might mistake her new friends as the Marines or something. But Luffy knew the truth and that was all that mattered. Vivi concluded her speech by sating that she loved her country and her people and asking them to help her re-build their nation.

Luffy felt a pang of jealousy that he wasn't a citizen of Alabasta, but he shook that off as he wiped the tears he didn't realize came out during her speech and resumed his work.
