Hijabi Girls

"A gift for you, my wife," an ebullient Yusuuf said when Elizabeth got home. It was a new hijab and abaya, in blue. "They match your eyes," he added, smiling.

"I thought you were re-Westernizing me," Elizabeth said, her lip quirking.

"We've accomplished what we set out to do," Yusuuf responded. "For now, at least. We need to bring you women to heel again, and the outfits are an important starting point."

"Indeed they are," Elizabeth whispered, almost in a daze. "All the other women are getting the same gifts?" Yusuuf smiled broadly.

"They are."
