7. A suspicious creature

The river takes a bend and as Malene rounds it she sees a massive creature lying against the bank. The thing appears to be a metal man, eyes permanently open but filled only with a dull glow. She freezes, examining the creature at a distance.

She’d heard tell of golems made by powerful mages to wander the woods, but she never thought she’d see one. The thing was beautiful in a way; the craftsmanship was incredible. But she didn’t want to risk it capturing her, even if it appeared dead. She resolved to sneak around, hugging the trees to give her some cover.
