19. She successfully splints it

Her shirt basically in rags anyway, Malene pulls it from her body and tears it to strips. Now bare chested, she ties the strips of fabric around her ankle, using a stick to splint the injured joint. She’ll be slightly slower, but not enough to add much time to her trip.
