Malene 8, Hag 1 20, Hag 2 19, Hag 22

The third sister was on Malene in a flash. Claws bared, she swipes at the elf. [14 vs 26 (natural 20)] Malene deftly blocks the creature with her shield, getting a swipe in as the hag leaves her side open. [7 vs 16] The hag jumps out of the way at the last minute, but Malene feels a sense of confidence in her abilities going into the fight.

The first woman Malene had seen comes in from the side, clawing at the elf as well. [13 vs 11. Block: 22. Damage reduction: 7. Damage. 4] She swipes at Malene’s ribs, mostly grabbing clothes, but successfully dragging her sharp nails against Malene’s side. The elf screams out in pain as the hag leaves a gash along her ribcage.

In her distraction, the second hag swipes at Malene as well. [23 vs 17. Block: 10. Damage: 4.] Malene screams out in pain, blood now staining her clothes. She needs to get away, but feels surrounded

The last of the hags comes up behind her. [21 (critical) vs. 17. 18 to block. Damage: 10.] Malene stumbles as the woman’s claws rake across her back. A root catches her foot and her ankle twists horribly, adding to the pain of the attack.

Finally she gets the opportunity to swing, but she knows the most important thing is to run. Blood soaks her clothing and she stumbles horribly in her attempt. [17 vs 5, 5, 9]

She dodges the women’s claws and sprints, ignoring the pain in her ankle. She tries to hew close to the river, but hearing them behind her tries to take cover in the thick of the woods. Running deeper, she dives into a thicket. She hears the hags run past her, cackling and calling for their prey.

“Come here elf, you’ll love to feel your belly swell with our newest sister!”

She shudders and creeps out of the thicket she’s hidden herself in. The coast is clear. Once again, she’s run blind. She looks up at the sky and listens for the river to determine just how far off course she’s gotten.
