King Poseidon

We reached the palace throne room.

We swam further into throne room, where I caught sight of an older mermaid guy seated on the throne.

Despite his age, the man looked very fit, as evidenced by his large muscles. A long black beard covered his face.

He carried a trident.

"Daddy!" Undine said.

"Undine, you've disobeyed me again!" her dad said, "I told you not to leave the palace!"

This man looked down at us with a stern expression.

"Just who are you supposed to be?" I asked.

"Who am I?" The man leaned forward and prepared to explain, only to be cut off by Hans, who hopped up onto the throne.

"Show some respect!" Hans said, "You are in the presence of his majesty, King Poseidon, the one and only ruler of the seas!"

Poseidon was eyeing us suspiciously.

"And who are they?" Poseidon asked.

"They helped us fight off those krakens," Undine said.

"Yep!" Tank grinned, "Pleased to meet you, your majesty!"

"Have you anything to report?" Poseidon asked.

Hans swam up to Poseidon, "They brought those krakens here."

"They don't look familiar," Poseidon said.

"We're from an ocean very far away," I said.

"Yep," Tank said.

"Young man," Poseidon said, "You're not from another ocean. You're from another world."

Glaze groaned, crossing her arms and glancing at me. Tank, on the other hand, frowned and gazed down at the ground.

"Was it really that obvious?"

"You may fool Undine, but you can't fool me," said Poseidon, "You were using a Chainsaword to kill krakens," He gazed down at the Chainsaword, "The Chainsaword is certainly not a weapon of this world."

"Who cares?" I rolled my eyes. "Maybe we are from another world, but we came here for a reason. Ever thought that maybe we were trying to save this place from the kraken?"

"That's not your concern," Poseidon leaned forward, and brow furrowed, "As the king of the seas, it is my duty and mine alone to ensure the safety of the seas. All you have done is meddle and bring danger to my daughter," he paused, heaving a sigh.

Undine clenched her fists and seemed as if she had plenty more to say, but then she angrily dropped her arms.

"We've wasted enough time," Glaze stared.

Undine swam back towards us, while Hans remained with King Poseidon.

“Undine, where are you going?” King Poseidon bellowed. She ignored him.

“Let’s go,” Undine said as they moved from the throne room.

Undine swam out the room. To be honest, I was kinda hoping that Poseidon would spank Undine in front of me like gramps did with Skye. Wait, do mermaids have butts? Something about Poseidon did not add up.

"Wait a minute, how do you know about the Chainsaword? Or other worlds?" I asked.

"Well, I..." Poseidon said.

"Are you from another world?" I asked.

"Yes, I came from a universe where the earth is named Gaia," Poseidon said.

"I've been there. Fought in a tournament. Then Hera ruined it," I said.

"This world was originally based on the Little Mermaid. Then my old enemy Thetis arrived from Gaia, seeking to take over. She and her krakens committed mass genocide against the mermaids! I had to rebuild their entire civilisation as that universe's Atlantis. I left my son, Triton, as ruler of the Atlantis in my own world. My point is that when you travel to another world, you upset its natural order," Poseidon said.

"I think that order is already upset," I said.

I swam to join Undine. I looked back towards King Poseidon, who now had sunken into his chair with a sigh. He soon disappeared from view as we continued to move.
