No. She Should Stick Around.

"What kind of genetic experiments are you working on?" Katie asked. She thought maybe she'd feel a bit more at place if she was in charge of the conversation.

"Oh, you'll learn all about that. For now, let's keep things simple, okay? Let's continue with the questions. Do you have any siblings?"

"No."

"Good. And, lastly, do you have any pets?"

"I used to have a cat, but he ran away."

"Good, good."

Verlax looked up from the papers and smiled at Katie.
"So, tell me Katie, are you happy with the choice you've made in agreeing to assist me?"

"Uh, yeah, I guess." Katie was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that she had agreed to serve this stranger for 6 months to 2 years. Maybe she didn't make the right choice to not serve prison time. It was only 30 minutes into this sentence and she was very nervous.

"Excellent! Because the real fun is about to begin. You're going to help me with some testing!" Verlax set down the documents and stood up from his chair, but not before hitting a button on a remote next to him.

"T-testing?" Katie stammered. She somehow knew where this was going. She was going to be this man's lab rat wasn't she? Before her thoughts could race further she heard whirring sound and some mechanical clicking. It was coming from the couch she was sitting on. Before she could react, a large belt came across her chest, and her arms were bound from smaller ones coming from the armrests. The belt around her chest squeezed tightly, pinning her arms to her sides.

"W-what is this!?"

"I told you, you were going to help me with some tests." Verlax grinned. "These tests will involve injecting you with some experimental genetic formulas, and monitoring the effects they have on your body. Don't worry, though, you won't remember any of this. I'm glad you didn't make a run for it. Otherwise, I'd have to hit you with the heavier stuff. This way will be a lot more fun."

Katie struggled against her restraints, trying to get free, but it was no use.
"Let me go!" She screamed.

"Shhh. Don't worry, you're going to be perfectly fine my dear. In fact, you're going to be a whole lot better than fine." Dr. Verlax pulled out a large syringe from his coat pocket and walked over to where Katie was strapped.

She could see the clear liquid inside the syringe and she felt her heart begin to race. She was terrified.

"N-no! Please! Don't do this!"

Dr. Verlax ignored her and began to insert the needle into one her her bound arms. Katie could feel the cool metal of the syringe as it entered her skin. She was helpless and at his mercy. She knew there was nothing she could do but wait for the inevitable.

"Just relax, Katie." Verlax whispered. "The serum is going to take effect soon, and you're going to feel amazing. Just relax, and let it happen."

As he continued to pump the serum into her, Katie could feel her body starting to tingle. She began to feel warm and relaxed. She was no longer afraid, and she began to close her eyes.

"That's it, Katie. Just relax."

As she drifted off into a calm, blissful state, she could hear the voice of the doctor telling her that everything was going to be okay.
