To meet friends from church

It was Saturday, there were no classes... But there was a good reason for a meeting. Barbara returned from Los Angeles and immediately invited all the girls from the church to a meeting at the Eiffel Cafe.

Barbie left town at 19 and met Fred, who introduced himself as a film producer passing through their town. To be honest, he did not inspire confidence in anyone, but they began a whirlwind romance with Barbie, which ultimately ended with them leaving the city together, and, as Barbie wrote, getting married in Las Vegas.

Of course, in the measured world of the church it was a scandal! Huge scandal!

This was further aggravated by the fact that Barbara wrote from there rarely and sparingly, and had no social networks, at least before she left. Therefore, tracking her life was almost impossible.

Alice's father even suggested that Barbie's parents hire a private detective at their own expense (being a senior minister of the church - he always accepted the needs of parishioners as his own and was an extremely generous and selfless person, which, oddly enough, did not prevent him from running a very successful business - apparently a pastor was right and Heaven loved her father), but Mr. and Mrs. Mayflower refused for some reason of their own, and Robert did not insist.

In general, Barbie Mayflower was waiting for her and the other girls from the church in the cafe (although, taking into account her marriage, her last name was definitely different). A true Los Angeles resident, which was a sensation in itself for their small town.

With a sinking heart, Alice pulled into the parking lot of the “French” cafe and got out of the car. Already here there was a breathtaking aroma of French pastries and excellent coffee. The owner of the cafe, a real Frenchman Jacques, was a truly magnificent baker and barista...

Alice took another appraising look at herself in the mirror glass of the window of a nearby store, straightened her skirt, straightened her hair and decisively stepped into the cafe.
