An Offer Delayed

"So, what kind of game is this?" Yulia asks as everyone except Lri is uncloaked and Lri unveils shortly after.

"You can't be actually considering this?!" Maple responds, but Yulia doesn't acknowledge her response as Dreg begins talking.

"It's a simple game... I'll put you to sleep and you'll have to solve a little puzzle I've made in the dream world. I promise you that the puzzle is solvable of course," Dreg explains.

"That's not much detail," Yulia responds and she feels a shudder run through her remembering the last time she was affected by his dream magic.

"Telling you any more about the puzzle in advance would give you an unfair advantage," Dreg responds.

"Hmm..." Yulia responds and then turns to Maple who looks extremely annoyed that this is even being considered, "do you-" Yulia starts and is cut off.

"-Fuck no! I am in no way willing to accept this risk!" she responds angrily.

"Okay... I'm afraid we'll have to reject your game offer," Yulia says and Dreg just chuckles.

"The offer will remain until either you have successfully reached kitty's workshop or rescue your friends, whichever comes first so if you find things too difficult, my offer will still be here," he states.

Yulia merely nods as she has the train return to engineering, cloaking herself and Maple again as Lri veils.

"So, Maple what do you know about the janitors and the slimes?" Yulia asks.

Maple is still clearly angry, but she responds, "the janitors are of course made by me to Del's designs. They're the most simple machine we've created, with the exception of some basic drone stuff like what the Manager had. They are useful for multiple tasks including security, but well... They aren't the best at security. They're definitely the thing you have to worry about the least," she says and then sighs, "the slimes I don't know much about. They began infesting the city sometime shortly before Sally was launched. They were considered simple vermin and we exterminated them where ever we found them, but it seems after Sally took the city she stopped exterminating them, seemingly intent on harvesting their stasis gel. On their own they're not super dangerous, they will attack people, but they just seem to be after fluids to absorb and don't cause any physical injury, their stasis effect merely making it so their target can't fight back as they feed on them. The worst effect being fed on has is just... exhaustion and um... emotional," she says and she's clearly blushing slightly, "of course falling prey to them now would be bad as it would make us easy pickings for Sally if we were suffering the result of a stasis slime attack," she adds.

The train arrives at engineering, the slimes are still milling about, but the janitor has left. The turrets continue to sweep the area searching for any targets, occasionally simply following one of the slimes as it moves before eventually turning back to more generally scan the area.

Yulia takes a deep breath and the three women head in. The slimes and turrets again don't notice them and this time they make it to the door without difficulty and they slip through the doors, attracting some minor attention from some of the nearer slimes as the door opens seemingly on it's own, but they slip through and enter Engineering Proper.

The area is quite different from the downtown or Mercantile districts. It's fully enclosed like they are, but this one makes no attempt to mimic a sky, instead the ceiling above is covered in various cables and pipes running from the various buildings. "the one there, that's my workshop," Maple says probably pointing and forgetting she's invisible.

"Which one?" Yulia asks and Maple hesitates.

"The one with the red door?" she suggests weakly. There is indeed a building with a red door, in fact every building has a red door. Every building is in fact exactly the same in appearance with one exception which is a large junkyard.

The three women simply stand there for a few seconds struggling with how to deal with this and then Maple sighs.

"Look I'll just go open the door, you'll see the door open," Maple says.

A bit later one of the building's doors does suddenly open, however at the same time mechanical tentacles launch from inside and Maple screams decloaking as she's dragged inside and the door slams shut behind her. Yulia and Lri run to help and open the door entering the workshop and finding that inside there's a large machine, it has multiple red glowing eyes and a number of mechanical tentacles, resembling a jellyfish, but with a face or at least a flat panel on it's bulbous head that is covered with the aforementioned eyes as it floats in the center of the workshop, one of it's tentacles wrapped tightly around Maple as it holds her. She's struggling, but unable to break free of it's grip, her arms held down at her sides and her mouth covered by the tentacles tip keeping her from making any sound but muffled screams.

It doesn't seem to be aware of Yulia and Lri as they enter though it does seem to have noticed the door has opened again and it's tentacles raise threateningly. The workshop itself consists of a large area the backwall of which is dominated by a large machine that seems to be some sort of high tech forge.
