Assignment: Dr. Emery Verlax, Scientist, 27 (Lab Rat / Personal Experiment Route)

Someone the same age as her? There's no way. There must be some kind of catch with being a home assistant for this guy. There was something off about him in his photo. Maybe sinister, despite being pretty good looking. He was a doctor as well.

"What's the catch?" Katie pointed to the image of the man in the book.

"We don't really know." Jane said. "We don't get to choose who gets to end up in our selection book. The state picks them. This guy is a scientist. That's all the information we have on him."

"Is he...I don't know...crazy? I'm not going to get hurt or anything, right?"

"The state wouldn't put you into any situation that could be potentially dangerous. But, there is always a possibility, I suppose." Lisa joked.

"Great. I'm going to die." Katie sighed. "So what is his doctorate in, do you know that at least?"

"Science." Jane said, looking up from her paperwork.

"Very funny. I mean, what kind of science? He could be a doctor of rocket science, and I wouldn't know how to help him at all. What are his hobbies, his interests?"

"We don't have that kind of information on him." Lisa said again, shaking her head. "This is all we were given."

"Fine. I'll take him." Katie said. "I'm sure he's a perfectly normal guy who's looking for a bit of help around the house. I can handle this." Katie was being sarcastic, but just in fact, did not want to end up staying with an old geezer her entire sentence. Someone her age though? This was somewhat a more acceptable predicament.

"Excellent!" Lisa said, clapping her hands together.
"If you'll please sign this paperwork, we'll get you to your assignment immediately."

"Wait, right now?"

"Yes, right now."

"But...but I haven't even packed anything. I don't have any clothes. I didn't bring a toothbrush."

"Don't worry. The state provides everything you will need for your assignment. Now, please sign the paper."

"Okay, okay, hold on a second."
Katie signs the paper.

"He lives only a few minutes away, you're in luck for a short trip!" Jane exclaimed.
The twin turned to speak to the driver and give him directions.

Katie was now to begin her sentence.
