Mentorship

Mira and Douglas and Elizabeth had just finished a brunch. Mira wanted to go buy a little gift for Elizabeth, so Elizabeth and Douglas milled about the home, playing with Katie, who was now a toddler. Emily and Aaron were in kindergarten.

"They grow up so fast," Elizabeth observed.

"They do indeed," Douglas agreed.

"Douglas ... can I give you a little advice?" Elizabeth asked.

"Uhh, sure."

"You're Mira's bottom, yes?" Douglas blushed, but nodded. "Well, you're not treating her like she needs to be treated."

"What do you mean?" Douglas asked, looking at her.

"Well, take us, for example. When we were married, I made sure your favorite scotch glass was always clean and ready. I made sure you had your victory cigar and lit it for you. I made sure my skin was moisturized and wore perfume so you'd always have something sweet to smell when you took me. I got on my knees and made you feel like you were the only man in the world. I was a bitch for you, Douglas. And now you're a bitch for Mira, but you don't act like you need to for her. You still act like you're the fucker, not the fucked." Douglas just stared at her, gawping.

"I - I - I wouldn't know where to start," he said, trying to sweep it under the rug.

"Come over tomorrow after breakfast, and I'll give you some pointers."
