What's next?
Coronation Day. The coronation.
The guard's bowed as Queen Amelia passed them walking regally to the sounds of the reginal music. The red carpet contrasted her white dress as she walked slowly followed by the six pages holding her train. Ahead of her she saw Bishop Micheal and his aide waiting. Their gaze upon her was both solemn and appreciative. It had been nearly a year since they last met; during which time many events transpired. The queen approached them calmly, feeling confident in her power and rightful rule over these lands. "Your Majesty," greeted Bishop Michael solemnly. "We welcome you into our house of worship." His voice carried through the vast room echoing off its stained glass windows and sculptures. The walls were lined with golden icons representing stories of saints and martyrs. Amelia took her seat in the throne that was used for coronations and made herself comfortable. Bishop Micheal offered a pray to everyone assembled. His deep resonant voice filling every corner of the cavernous space. "Heavenly Father, we gather here today to consecrate our beloved Queen Amelia to your service and ask you to bless us all as we continue to work together for justice and peace throughout the land". Amelia listed as the bishop spoke her nervousness starting to dissipate as the ceremony started. Bishop Micheal stood before Amelia and started the oath. "Your majesty repeat after me. I Queen Amelia give here today my oath to serve the Kingdom and its people faithfully for as long as I am Queen."
Amelia repeated the words back "I Queen Amelia give here today my oath to serve the Kingdom and its people faithfully for as long as I am Queen." The Bishop carried on "I Queen Amelia will defend the faith of the church and to never cause harm to any citizen without showing good cause. I will uphold all laws and traditions of Sarella" Again Amelia repeated the bishops words "I Queen Amelia will defend the faith of the church and to never cause harm to any citizen without showing good cause. I will uphold all laws and traditions of Sarella" Again the Bishop spoke "I Queen Amelia give this oath of my own free will and without reservation so help me god in heaven." Again Amelia repeated the oath "I Queen Amelia give this oath of my own free will and without reservation so help me god in heaven." The bishop smiled as he nodded to his aide. The aide stepped behind the Queen and removed the coronation Tiara. Another aide approached carrying the state coronation crown on a red cushion. The bishop took the crown and started to slowly lower it " With the power of the Almighty and the church I anoint you in his name as Queen Amelia of Sarella and defender of the faith. As he said the last word the crown rested on Amelia's head. The congregation started to clap as the bishop stood back "Long live Queen Amelia" As Queen Amelia glided gracefully toward the grand entrance of the Cathedral of the Kingdom, her royal robes trailing elegantly behind her, the congregation couldn't help but stare in awe.
Their queen looked resplendent today – her regal attire shimmering under the midday light filtering through the stained glass windows. They headed out of the cathedral and Amelia felt the weight of the crown on her head. She was followed out by her mother Helena and a line of lords and ladies. The air outside seemed charged with energy and expectation as the people gathered in throngs, filling every corner of the vast square leading up to the magnificent facade of the royal cathedral. Every window, balcony, ledge, rooftop, even the branches of trees surrounding the cathedral were crowded with cheering citizens, their voices raised in a chorus of excitement and reverence. As Amelia emerged the crowd started to cheer and clap as she headed to the open carriage. She would sit alone on her way back to the palace. The carriage pulled by the six white stallions headed away from the cathedral with an escort of cavalry ahead and behind. Amelia regally waved at the cheering crowds as she passed by. Deep inside she held a little sadness that she was here today because her father had died and she could only hope that he would be proud of her. Something else troubled her and that was Prince Omar she knew that however much she wantd to marry him it was not possible due their positions. It would be a hard choice for either of them to make to give up their individual birth rights. She did love him but she knew that their separate kingdoms must come first.
