Chapter 7 by Northfield

She should be close to the bottom now

She will brave the town

Just when she decided to press ahead, Julie froze as she saw a large group of people further down the road at the start of the trail, complete with a guide. Not wanting to face them, she veered off the path and made her way through the tall grass of an olive orchard on the edge of town. She was still pretty exposed out here, so she hopped over and pushed through the foliage until she reached a gravel path.

Ow. Ow. Ow. She carefully tread across the stones until she ended up in the grass on the other side. She looked around, and realized she was on a small camping ground. She smelled a hint of chlorine in the air, and knew there must be a pool nearby. Maybe she could yoink a towel from there to cover up! That would make the bus ride back to the hostel a lot less degrading for sure. She snuck across the camping, hiding behind each bush or rock she could, until she reached the pool.

There were a few people lounging by the poolside. It was past the summer holiday, so at least there were no kids running about. Still, the thought of people more her age seeing her did not exactly thrill her either. Actually, it did thrill her, but it was still probably best to avoid it if possible. There were some towels draped over the white plastic lounge seats, but they were right next to the pool. It was basically impossible to get to without being seen.

Will she risk it?
