Day Eight
Ethan wakes, his head empty.
Yawning, he gets himself out of bed, going to get some cereal. Sitting on the couch, fiddling with his phone, he munched away. {if Heather Affection =100}No response from Heather. He might have to wait a bit longer yet.{endif}{if Heather Alt =true}No response from Heather. At some point, he’d need to talk to Layla about this.{if Layla Sex =true} Awkward as that may be…{endif}{endif}
Finishing his cereal, he sets the bowl down. He starts wondering what he should do today, only for the thought to be cut short by a rough knocking on his door. Since he has a doorbell, the knocking feels oddly direct.
Rising, he makes for the door, having a good idea who might be on the other side. When he opens it, he isn't surprised.
“Heya, City-boy.”
“Hey…” Ethan gives Charlie a quick look over. She’s wearing her work clothes, the overalls still very unflattering. “What’s up?”
“Wanna make $200?” Charlie’s mouth curls into a big smile.
“Uh…” Being jobless, Ethan almost goes for it without questions. Almost. “Doing what?”
“Does it matter?”
“Kinda?”
Charlie rolls her eyes. “I need a hand loading up some kegs for the fair.”
“Uh…” Ethan isn’t sure where to even start with that.
After another eye roll, Charlie elaborates. A few days from now, the town would be throwing its annual fair. While during the day it's typically quite kid-friendly, at night it turns into what she describes as a 'town-wide frat party'. As such, there is quite a bit of alcohol. Charlie, whose got a truck and time, has been tasked with picking up some kegs a very towns over, but...
"I need help loading them," she sighs. "Guy who I pick them up from fucked up his back, so he can't load 'em, so I need a manly man to help me out. So how 'bout it? Feeling manly?"
Ethan's brow furrows. She's baiting him. Unfortunately, he doesn't think he can refuse.
