What will happen?
Minor change to the caravan route.
So, your caravan turned off the main trade route and began to move in a northwest direction. A few hours later, your caravan entered a small village. The caravan stopped briefly. Jodaz and Belknab purchased some additional provisions from the locals. To the west of the village one could see the seashore, boats and fishermen's huts. Therefore, it is not surprising that most of the food that was purchased here was various seafood.
Soon your caravan left the village and continued its journey north.
By the middle of the next day, your caravan has reached the border between the Holy Kingdom of Orlania and the Despotate of Yalann.
You have seen the border posts of numerous armed human warriors. These warriors carried out the commands of several knights who sat in the saddles of large war horses. The knights were dressed in heavy plate armor and had closed helmets with lowered visors. Among other things, you noticed several priests from the Church of Equal Deities Brothers. You didn’t understand why these useless assholes were here.
Your caravan had to go through lengthy cargo inspection procedures and duty payment verification procedures. You helped unload the carts so that the border guards and officials of the Kingdom of Orlania could make sure that there were no prohibited goods.
The cargo verification procedure by the Sacred Kingdom of Orlania took about 3 hours.
Then you, like all the other caravan guards, had to load barrels and boxes of goods back into the carts...
After that, your caravan crossed the border. Now your caravan was in the territory of the Despotate of Yalann.
Immediately your caravan was surrounded by squads of dwarven warriors with halberds and crossbows. There were about three times more of these dwarves than there were guards in your caravan.
You mentally cursed, “What the fuck?! Now am I really going to have to unload all these fucking boxes again because the dwarven bureaucrats want to stick their noses into every one of these boxes?!”
Unfortunately, your assumption was not far from the truth.
Your caravan walked under an armed escort of dwarven warriors, who were dressed in chain mail made of grayish metal. Soon your caravan reached a large building that was surrounded by several towers.
One of the dwarven warriors said in a cold voice: “We begin the customs inspection procedure. Your carts enter this building one by one. You unload the carts. Our guys check every box and every barrel. Then you load all your junk back. The owner of your caravan now comes with me to pay customs duties and provide all the necessary documents to the commander of our border outpost."
After these words, this dwarf warrior left with the merchant Jodaz towards one of the towers.
You and all the other guards of the caravan were **** to begin the next procedures to unload the carts...
You noticed that among the yalannian dwarves who were inspecting your goods, there were dwarves who were dressed in strange robes of a dark shade and who were holding staves in their hands that emitted a strange grayish-bluish light. If you look more closely, you will notice that this light was emitted by some kind of whitish crystal inlaid into the top of each of these staves. These dwarves ran their staffs along every barrel and every crate. You didn't know what that meant. You simply decided to carry out your duties and not pay attention to any nonsense.
All these labor-intensive procedures lasted about 4 more hours.
Are you tired. Your body is sweating profusely. Your muscles ached.
Finally, the merchant Jodaz returned.
Your caravan has successfully passed all customs checks and your caravan continues its journey north along the well-paved trade route.
The carts drove along the road and you tried to restore your strength.
Dwarf Belknab told you: "We have almost reached the destination of our journey. The fortress city of Dreygrul is not far away. We will arrive there tomorrow."
When evening came and it began to get dark, your caravan stopped for a rest. You ate a little and went to bed.
What will happen tomorrow?
