Moving on Down
It was the hardest decision Elizabeth ever had to make. But even the upkeep on the mansion was taxing them at this point. So they sold it, using the monies to pay down some of the loans they were facing, and funded a modest state education for each of Elizabeth's childrens, plus for three more that she and Antoine hoped to have.
They moved in to a lower middle class neighborhood on the wrong side of town. The apartment complex Douglas liked to look at from time to time was just down MLK Boulevard. Next to that wasa seedy strip club. Amateur night coming soon, first prize, 500 dollars. Elizabeth stared at it. That sounded pretty good by this point, she thought.
