Chapter 15 by Hvast Hvast

Had Mira lost all hope?

Mira is overfilled with guilt

Marus, in his demonic hubris, made a mistake. He thought the fake answer of the goddess would break his victim, but instead, was Mira struck by a revelation — A realization that tore her soul even more than the physical violations she had endured. In her mind, she was no longer a paladin; she accepted the word of her Goddess, even if it wasn't truly hers. It was then that Mira realized she hadn't just lost her honor when her hymen broke apart beneath Marus's demonic member. No, she had lost it much earlier..

She was proud, soaking in all that sweet praise. She had always seen herself as the most beautiful, chaste, noble, brave, and skilled paladin ever to exist. Now she felt reality pulling her in another direction, plunging her into self-blame for everything.

Mira's mind raced through memories of dishonorable tactics like ambushes and deceptions. She winced at the thought of ordering captives to be tortured for information. And how could she forget the way she manipulated men? She had used her feminine charms to secure allies and followers, dangling the false promise of a future together as a reward. It wasn't much better than selling herself on the streets, she thought bitterly.

Mira dared to claim that the demon wouldn't break her. How could she be so sure about that? Demons had corrupted countless pure souls, even causing angels to fall. She openly lied to Marus when she said she wanted his guards more than him. Her plan to escape by seducing a guard was as cunning as it was ****—a tactic fit for a rogue or a whore, not a paladin. Even her fury during her **** by the orc reeked of sinful pride. She wasn't furious because he had violated her; she was enraged because she saw herself as too good for an animal, for an orc. How was she any better than the hundreds of peasant girls who had survived similar fates without the luxury of a demonic potion to ease their pain?

Mira was too harsh on herself; she'd always been pure enough to remain a paladin in the eyes of her Goddess. However, the Paladin couldn't know that she still retained her purity and paladin's powers. She had lost faith in herself.

Marus, who watched the paladin regularly, knew about her bitter thoughts... Some of them broke through as raw energy. Others were spoken in Mira's lamenting and self-loathing whispers.

Marus knew he had lost this battle for Mira's soul, but not the war. True, one who is low in self-esteem is resistant to many types of corruption. But guilt, he knew, was a double-edged sword. Once again his words filled the room, echoing off the walls and seeping into Mira's very being: "Yes, my little sweet ****," he purred, "you have become a whore long ago. You have no hope of returning to the light. Accept that you are like me; swear fealty to your new lord and you shall be happy... forever."

Redemption or surrender?
