Just a theoretical concept, right?

Five minutes later John lifted a flap of cloth that covered him on the rolling trolley-like thing that Tanya was pushing through the hallways. He wondered how the fuck he had agreed to this. Here he was, living his deepest sexual desires day in and day out, and now he got pushed like a kid in a stroller, hidden by a white tablecloth or something.

Just as he almost got a good look outside, Tanya slapped his fingers and hissed "Someone is coming" John got pushed by what sounded like several people in rather heavy boots. As they drove around the next corner, the noise subsided behind him. For the next minute or so, all John could hear was the rattling of the metal wheels on the smooth floor beneath him and the clacking of Tanyas heels.

As they came to a stop, he heard Tanyas voice whispering "Ok listen. We will go in now. But let me talk, Do NOT come out until I give the sign, alright?" John reached out of the white cloth to give her a thumbs up. "Well, alright then. Let's go in" Tanya encouraged herself and knocked on the door.

A bored-sounding voice answered the knock "Yes?" John heard the sound of the door handle being pushed down. "Oh Tanya, hey! Did not expect to see you here." She sounded surprised, but pleasantly so. "Yeah hi, sorry to drop in like that. I just had to get out of my lab you know? And talk to someone with a higher IQ than a piece of cardboard, so the breakroom was out of the question."

Someone, supposedly the other woman, gave a short snorting laugh "I hear you. So, anything new in your jizz lab?" This further solidified Johns suspicion that Tanya was something related to semen samples. "Well..." said Tanya "about that..." She took a deep breath "Rose, can I ask you something?"

Rose, how she was called apparently, answered "Well, we are scientists, so you better ask anything you want to find out, that is your job after all." After a small pause, her voice changes to a more serious tone. "Judging by the look on your face though, this may not exactly be a physics-related question, huh?"

"Yes and no..." Tanya said vaguely. John pulled the white cloth aside the tiniest bit to catch a glimpse of Rose. She was short, with a shock of somewhat messy red hair, sitting back in an office chair. She wore a pair of jeans, a white blouse and sneakers. Seeing her, John just now realized how long it had been since he last saw a woman who was dressed, well normal.

"You see" Tanya went on "Remember how we talked about your research last time? You told me all kinds of things about, Oh I don't know exactly, parallel universes, quantum time.. something, high dimension string gravity... Oh I don't know" John could see Rose grin "Not bad, one of those terms was actually not complete nonsense"

Tanya sounded serious now "Rose come on. I know I have asked this before, and I remember your answer but trust me, it is different now. So tell me What exactly are you guys working on here?" Rose turned and pushed a few papers on her desk together into a neat stack. "If you remember, then why do you ask again? I am still not allowed to tell you. Honestly Tanya, I would really but.... You know how the boss can get even with minor things. And she was serious about this. And even if I did, no offense but I don't think you would understand much of it. It's all just highly theoretical anyway. Look around, All I have is a PC and some whiteboards, I am not exactly building a space laser here."

"Have you been up in engineering lately?" Tanya asked her suddenly "Erm.. what? No not in a while. I don't really like those girls. Just because they know how to use power tools, they think they can..." But Tanya interrupted "They may be assholes, I won't disagree there, but let me tell you, they have built.. well something big up there. And I think it is based on your... well theories, if that is the right word for it."

"Come on, be real. Are you trying to tell me that they are up there hammering together some kind of interdimensional portal or something?" There was silence for a few seconds "Not... Not that I was working on something like that." Rose added in a pathetic attempt to hide her blunder.

"Okay, so first of all, gotcha. And also.... well you may change your mind if you see this." Light flooded Johns eyes as Tanya suddenly pulled back the flap of cloth and he could finally get out from under that metal trolley. Rose stared at him without a word. She stared for several long moments, before uttering "What the fuck did you do, Tanya?"
